Date men and women from United States / Arkansas / Oakland, 65 year old

Date men and women from Oakland, United States. I am a relaxed person who enjoys the outdoors; hiking, traveling by car and train, just being outside doing anything. Indoors; listening to music, jazz, easy, I like all music, card games, board games. Enjoy live music sets. I am open to life and willing to experience anything that the lady in my life would want. The most important thing in a relationship for me is to be with someone where we are both relaxed in and enjoy being in each others presence no matter what we are doing.

Meet a soulmate from Oakland, United States. I'm a good friend and a good listener and like to laugh at myself and I'm currently looking for a new best friend and life companion. I am also caring, considerate, romantic, generous, kind, gregarious, gentle, honest, honorable, and a great friend to know and have. I am passionate about equality and have been a long time champion of equal-rights, gay rights and a more open U.S. immigration policy. And yet, I have tended to be conservative in my own life choices such as the choices I made related to my education and career and financial matters.
One of my passions is food. Not only do I love to cook and eat delicious foods, but also I care about how the food we eat is grown. I am lucky enough to be able to have delicious food at each meal while many go hungry or don’t have nutritious food available to them. It is my belief that no one should go to bed hungry and everyone should be able to afford to buy healthy food. The Slow Food movement is one of the organizations I actively participate in and support.
I retired last year and have been volunteering at an agency for the blind for the past 9 months. It is important for me to give back to my community as I have been blessed with many advantages. I completed a doctoral degree in special career was dedicated to teaching, in one way or another, blind children and adults.
education and spent my career as a university professor or research
specialist/program evaluator working for the blind. Actually, my entire
I have one daughter and two grand children who are a bright light in my life. I have a broad range of interests from fly fishing and some hunting to opera and ballet. As I mentioned I love to cook, it is my way of relaxing and giving to my partner. Music is also something that I enjoy, from rock and roll (alternative and oldies), jazz, blues, to opera and classical. There is some country music I like as well as a range of world music that I enjoy. I am adventuresome and like trying new things with friends, my partner or alone. Also I love to meet and get to know new people, I am warm and outgoing that way. I can carry on a conversation with almost anyone. But my biggest thrill is to travel, especially if long flights over water are involved. And you always find me with a smile on my face because my life is fun and I don't stop looking for wonderful adventures.
I walk, ride my bike and enjoy hiking as my main forms of exercise, though I've just joined my local Y. Through a diet heavy in fruits and vegetables and low in meat (no red meat right now) I maintain good health and have a good physique. Being healthy and engaged in healthy habits is an important part of my overall mental and physical well-being.
I am looking for a partner who is strong and independent because I value personal independence. In any relationship we can't expect our partners to meet all of our needs - we need to be able to take care of ourselves so we can preserve a healthy relationship. I am a loving and supportive person by nature and would like to find a partner who is also giving by nature. I want to create a dynamic relationship that involves sharing and one where we set aside selfish time during the week just for us.
Even thought I am retired, I am fortunate to be financially secure and can care for my partner in a very comfortable life-style.

Date people from Oakland, United States. I’m looking to create a loving, happy relationship that leads to life focused on our marriage, children, and a close circle of friends. Work and career success are important but our focus would be on using our careers to create a life we want. I have a professional practice and can largely set my own hours which would allow more time to be devoted to family and children. So I’m looking to meet a woman in her late 30’s to around 40.
Funny guy who has aspirations to be a stand up comedian here, have comic timing no material, would like to get my show on the road :) On first impression I may seem reserved but give me a few minutes and I’ll get you laughing. I take people as they come, easy to talk to, a loyal friend, reasonably good-looking with a warm smile and a “radio ready” voice. Politically progressive, and want to be more active this year; plan to volunteer and work on Obama campaign.
Youthful vibe and face, healthy, like trying new things and not stuck in the past; would like to check out new activities from small things to bigger things. Would like a companion who wants to try new activities: taking an improv class, paddle boating on Lake Merritt or taking the gondola across Lake Merritt to have brunch at the Lake Chalet, learning French and going to Paris together, learning to play doubles tennis, taking a basic :-) cooking class, get/stay fit together.
If you’re interested in someone stable and funny, not afraid of commitment, smart and open to learning and trying new things, check me out

Meet someone special from Oakland, United States. I'm a fairly lean, (5'8, 148 lb), ex-New Yorker, possessed of an alternately wry, ironic, zany, sweetly bemused wit, equal parts Woody Allen, Jon Stewart, Groucho Marx and Charlie Chaplain. Well travelled and experienced, I am as curious and filled with wonder for the world, as passionate regarding ideas and causes, as enthused by dogs and underdogs, as physically fit and as ardent as I've ever been, but I'm wiser, kinder, more patient, and more generous as a friend, son and brother and slower handed more considerate lover than ever. I'm also an avid cyclist, hiker, reader and culture vulture jazz in particular, but open to virtually all other forms of music, film, theater, dance and art. As much mountain man as metrosexual (don't worry, not some form of kink, merely a heterosexual who appreciates culture, cooking, other fine things), I love equally the exertions of hiking the Eastern Sierras and the ocean bluffs of the Lost Coast and cycling the crest of the East Bay Hills with its panoramically unsurpassed views of ocean, bridges and skyscrapers as I do listening to jazz at Yoshi's, viewing the latest Kahlo exhibit at MOMA or cooking a five course Thai meal for friends.
And although disconnected from my geographic roots by years of living abroad and in other American locales, I'm still a bit of a real New York bagel, a bit tough edged with a soft and chewabel soul. I pride myself on my straight-from-the-shoulder, you-see-what-you-get integrity but try to live a life of what Jewish tradition calls loving kindness and Budhism, maitri: letting someone in on a line of traffic, or giving way to someone whose place on the grocery check out line is at best, ambiguously behind mine, or making time each day to walk a dog owned by a friend who's dying of cancer to keep them together at home as long as possible. In other words, striving imperfectly to weigh my own needs and wants of the moment against the value of small acts of generosity and consideration for the sake of making the world a bit of a better place, one small act at a time.
Seeking a woman who's bright, adventurous and original, curious about the world and participates fully in it, has interests to share with me, teach me and learn from me, a woman who enjoys the life of the mind - words, ideas, books, the arts and the rhythms of her body. A woman who looks good dressed up, dressed down, undressed, who is active, healthy and trim and might be up for cycling or hiking. A woman who loves good food, good loving and a good laugh even in the middle of the night to share five minutes of schtick or a funny dream. A woman who has a mind and values of her own and stands up for them fairly. A woman who doesn't wait for me before she puts her hand through my arm or her arm around my shoulders. A sensual woman who takes pleasure in her sexuality and the ways it arouses me. A woman who's kind, honest, trusting and trustworthy. A woman who's been around yet retains a capacity of wonder, tenderness and desire, a woman who will hang in there during tough time, who gives the benefit of the doubt, forgives and forgets, a woman who will be a confidant, playmate, partner and ardent lover.

Date a man from Oakland, United States. I'm a retired software engineer who enjoys playing (and continuing to develop on) guitar, mountain biking, camping, and trying new microbreweries and wineries. I have been a teacher, tech writer and software developer. I enjoy computers, sports, and most types of music. (I also cook a little and make killer salsa.) I have a daughter and 2 grandkids. I enjoy pets and currently have a cat that's part dog. A sense of humor is a top priority in my partner...followed by common interests, intelligence, and physical attractiveness...

Date men and women from United States. ABOUT YOU:
You have a sense of humor with edge, more Southpark or Simpsons than Disney, you can be passionate and on fire but also like holding hands while walking - like the ancient 45 rpm records that had the fast dance song on one side and the slow dance on the flip side. You like doing things outside, even if just walking in nature. You like cooking together as part of enjoying the meal. You are comfortable being yourself.
ABOUT ME:
For polictics I checked Some Other Viewpoint. I'd prefer as little government as possible. I don't like "political correctness."
My exercise these days is mostly walking or hiking. I've decided to start taking dance lessons. I'm amazed at how much I like it. I like music, especially blues and rock, but never rap, and not so much dixieland or jazz.
I enjoy dinners and love movies, my favorite spectator art form. I like Indian, Mexican, Italian, and Chinese food. I enjoy photography, like discussions about politics and economics, and my spectator sports are football, politics, and the stock market. I'm learning acoustic guitar, I keep physically fit, and I'm more than half-way through writing a historical novel.
Recent books: The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene, I think I've read Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome series and Trevanian's Shibumi at least three times each. Most recently The Enemy at the Gate by Andrew Wheatcroft.
Magazines: The Economist, National Geographic, Consumer Reports.
Recent Movies and TV: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoe (wish I'd read the book first), Inception, Devil, The Wire, Rome, Dexter, 30 Rock, and the wonderful Breaking Bad.

Meet single man from United States. I am well traveled and international in outlook. I grew up in a military family and we traveled my entire childhood. 1 particular year we lived in 3 different countries and I attended school in 2 of them. I grew up bi-lingual, English/German. I loved living in Europe (a very different place in the 50's) but of all the places we lived I would say Alaska was the most spectacular .... It taught me to love wilderness and left me with memories of life on a frontier.
My ideal match would be in my age range. Secure in herself. Able to access her emotions and communicate what she feels. She would be able to laugh and be silly at times.
