But I do feel pretty open to the unexpected and the spontaneous. Generally an active, handy and basically down-to-earth artist type, who's blessed with a sense of curiosity about life. 2nd-gen Italian American descent, sometime 'slumlord', gentleman farmer & beekeeper, plus lotsa interests including travel near & far (Bali!), motorcycles, boating, real estate, home improvement, the arts, dancing, astrology, philosophy, politics, ideas, etc., etc.... and naturally, learning more about whatever you're passionate about. Spirituality is also important to me, but we each have to find our own path. Probably the only things am not so interested in would be rap music, fundamentalist anything ("must love _ _ _"), or right-wing politics (although I might be kinda curious about that one!).
Otherwise, no big "shopping lists" here. "Simpatico" chemistry is important, as is emotional availability for a LTR, but age isn't. Mostly I'm a pushover for a bit of charm or an engaging manner to start. As in life, the rest is an adventure.... let's explore the next chapter.

After thirty years of teaching elementary and high school I am enjoying retirement. I own a comfortable home in Paradise that I share with my 23 yr. old son who will be sadly moving in December. He works at the Chico airport and attends the local community college. I do volunteer work for local community groups and sometimes political candidates, hoping to make the world a better place in some small way. In my early 20s I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malaysia, and hope to visit a former student in Kuala Lumpur next year. I am hard-working and believe in commitments.
Outdoor activities are important to me. I try to ride my bike daily. In the summer I enjoy swimming and kayaking at Lake Oroville, a walk around the block, sailing locally and in San Francisco Bay, (usually with fellow Chico Yacht Club members) gardening, picnics, camping in my vintage travel trailer (especially the World Music Festival) and to a lesser degree of enjoyment, yard work. During the colder months I like to x-country ski. Indoor activities include cooking nurturing and tasty meals, baking, reading, woodworking and watching an interesting movie. I keep waiting for a long rainy period to scan and sell part of an inherited vintage post card collection on-line.
I want to have a fulfilling relationship with an open and lovely woman without too much baggage. It seems to me this involves honesty, sensitivity, understanding, acceptance, dealing with criticism, acknowledging imperfections, flexibility, adjusting to change, mutual support, equality, and more. Doing is easier than saying. I don't believe there is a perfect match out there, but someone who is enough alike and shares common interests, is retired and has time to devote to a relationship.

I'm looking for someone that would be willing to hold my hand while walking across a parking lot and wouldn't be embarrassed if I kissed her cheek in WalMart. She won't receive a Valentine card, but could get a dozen roses anytime, "just because". I seem to gravitate to the water, no matter where I go. Beach, lake front, river walks. I spend a good deal of time on my bass boat and enjoy the fishing, but I am just as happy exploring any water environment. I love international travel, but traveling without sharing the experience is only OK. The sights, the smells, the tastes are all better when shared with someone. I'm pretty "easy going" and adapt to most situations. I enjoy the Giants and the 49'ers and watch (tape) most all of their games, but I'm not a "sports junkie". I would rather be outside than inside, but I do enjoy watching old B/W movies from the 30's and 40's. I have never seen American Idol or Dancing with the Stars,,,,,but I will admit (if you don't repeat it) I do know who Ridge and Brooke are.

My age has never been a problem for me as I have been active all of my life. I have been told I look like I am in my 50ies. I've lived in California all my life, born and raised in the East Bay, lived in Contra Costa County and then to the Monterey Bay area for many years and now have retired to the Paradise area. I have two children, both grown and on their own. I'm an only child...wasn't my fault...lol. I've never tried to portray myself as anyone other that who I am. I have no hidden agendas, I don't cheat, am not a player and do not do drugs. I'm not a big fan of poetry, know nothing about art and not much of a reader. I love to kiss and am very good at it....lol. I like to treat others as I wish to be treated, have integrity, try to keep a positive attitude and don't like negativity. I feel I'm easy-going and very much down-to-earth. I'm not materialist, but do like nice things (probably a contradiction). I am open to new adventures/experiences. I definitely do not live in the past. I pick up after myself, don't leave dirty dishes in the sink (hopefully there's a dishwasher), I put the cap on the toothpaste, the toilet seat down and know that the toilet paper rolls down from the top. You know, there are times when being an adult is not all it's cracked-up to be.
The woman who is right for me would rather live in the country than the city, would rather go for a hike than to an art exhibit, would rather dress casual in jeans than to dress up, and would rather play outdoors. Two should be compatible and have similar interests. It's not where you live, instead, it's who you're with. I would like to meet a fun, attractive, active, emotionally available woman, who is feminine with a little tomboy thrown in, who knows herself and what she's looking for. Hopefully, she will like to camp/fish/boat. It's not important to me if you're a world traveler or highly educated. What is important is that you're easygoing, down-to-earth, have and values integrity, is honest with herself and others.
