Date someone special from Arizona, United States. I am a strong believer in earning trust and respect being important so humans can feel secure in relating to one another. I've been a car nut my whole life and love being creative. Humor also plays a role in life but without belittling others. Curiosity about spirituality and answers to living life constructively do occupy my mind a lot. Decent communication is important as I've been in Toastmasters for public speaking at one time. I'm more into solid friendships then relationships.
So I came in. looked around and questioned my own motives about this. I was married for 21 years and 23 years after divorce my ex wrote it was time to make amends because she was dying from lung cancer. The saying it takes a woman to make a man sure is true as my ex and I brought 2 daughters into this world. Our youngest became suicidal after being bullied at age twelve and killed herself at age 19. Seven years of attempting to encourage another human being to want to live is an experience not many people get to go through. Plus I heard her mother cry which was a wake up call about how ignorant I was concerning choosing who to get involved with and how to honestly establish solid relationships. For me I had to accept my role as a male and the responsibility that goes along with serving that role in life.
I actually got mentally burned out with sex because in all those I've been involved with that seemed to be the only thing we were together with. With my daughter I intentionally set out to earn her trust and respect whereas my relationship with her mother didn't include earning each others trust and respect. My daughter left everything in writing where she states that I was the only one who kept her going by keeping her focused on going for her dreams where others could only see her as a problem to fix.
I write this because I've been single for over 30 years and am at a point where I look at the responsibility and accountability that goes with relationships. Making amends before my ex died left me with a mindset of not wanting to get involved with anybody again where I have to make amends to them when I get on my death bed.
I look around at photos and have to admit I'm not a class act. My home is a pig pen. I've already marched people out of the house because I'd tell them my mess is bothering you to much. It doesn't bother me though. Another thing I've lived my whole life below the poverty level. I appreciate living this way. I know drug dealers, prostitutes, Outlaw bikers and yet most of my work was for wealthy people. To me we're all made of the same stuff. My life has been richer with these people and I am thankful for it being that way.
I write this now because even though I joined this site I did not like marriage or relationships so I apologize if I mislead anybody. I like my own life now and if anything I only let in friendships. I am not interested in relationships so I hope I am being clear about that.

. I retired (1995) from Lockheed Missiles Space Co. in Sunnyvale California as a systems test engineer. Sold all my property in order to travel.
