Important to me? (in no particular order)
Laughing easily and often. The absence of a sense of humor is a deal breaker, as is a smile that appears with the frequency of solar eclipses.Passion – in both the narrowest and fullest senses of the word. As to the latter the things you care about you should really, really care about, whereas in regard to the things you couldn’t care less about you shouldn’t care at all. I know three things about my car – where the ignition key goes, how to remove the gas cap and the phone number for the AAA. And that’s all I want to know. Compassion. An understanding that, no matter how bad things may get we’re going to be better off than 98% of the people in the world. We should leave the planet in better shape than it was on the day we arrived. The Amway or Mary Kay method should be applied here. If each of us turned around the lives of two people, and each of those to people did the same, etc., it would only take 30 years before six billion people were lifted up. Kissing. I’ve had relationships end (although one date isn’t really a relationship) as soon as I learned that my date either didn’t like to kiss or had a “technique” that me wondering if they had ever kissed anyone before. I am someone who not only loves foreplay but believes that the voyage is far more interesting than the destination – it takes/lasts a lot longer and it offers so many options as to how to get to the same place (“one of by land, two if by sea,” etc.) Sex. For a three letter word the number of permutations can create an almost endless list. Sometimes in can be languid and romantic – yet when you finally look at a clock you’re amazed at how much time has gone by. On other occasions it can take place in the garage and last about as long as it takes that garage door to close (to be fair, I’m probably talking about me). Sometimes it can involve role playing and more often than not words are allowed (even laughter, as long as it’s with and not at). If someone tells me what’s going to happen, and then waits five minutes from talking the talk to walking the walk, those 300 seconds can be excruciatingly exciting (here’s where I should break into the song “Anticipation”). Clothing. Knowing how to dress down and dress up. If it’s the latter enjoying (as much as I do) that you turn a few head. I am aware of the fact that most men get jealous, or are insecure but, the way I see it, every guy staring at you wants to trade places with me. Jealous? No way. An ego trip? Absolutely.
A perfect day?
Waking up next to someone I want to be waking up next to. The “night before” is always much easier, especially if alcohol, candlelight and perfect music was involved. A bike ride – about five miles. A great breakfast, forgetting about any diet related restrictions. One of the dishes should be the NY Times, open to both the editorial page and crossword puzzle, especially on Sunday. Golf – either with or without you. If it’s “with” it shouldn’t be all the time. Some of the jokes I know are so obscene that they should only be told to a few good men.
A great lunch, sitting outside – diet, what diet?
A couple of hours lying on a raft, reading a book written by one of my favorite authors. There are times when silence is golden. A massage for you – a manicure, a pedicure and whatever other “cures” you desire (I’ll read the rest of the newspaper while wondering why I keep doing the crossword puzzle using a pen).
