I'm a mountain girl/beach bum at heart and new to Northern Arizona. I relocated to Grand Canyon from Yosemite National Park (Organ Pipe Cactus and Theodore Roosevelt Ntl Park before that). I could use some help getting used to life out here in the high desert. I miss my powder days, alpine skinny dips, and big waves . . . but the starry nights and monsoon thunderstorms are unbeatable!
I'm definitely a free spirit, outside the box thinker, and major goofball. I'm a big fan of Daoist/Buddhist philosophies, as well as Ed Abby, Wendell Berry, John Halcyon and Mark Sisson. I want my free time to go toward cool life experiences - primarily outdoor adventure and travel. Are you up for hiking, rock climbing, paddle boarding, skiing, surfing, etc . . . Interested in learning how to be a better cook? Planting a garden? Or just want to show me around Arizona?!?! I'll trade you a tour of Grand Canyon for a tour of something in the Sedona or Flag area!
Fair warning, though: Planning a date with me that involves food is a bit tricky. I have food allergies, so I'm totally "that girl" with the super tricky order in restaurants. I've got a pretty good sense of humor about it, so you should too. After all being glutarded and allergic to dairy is a pain in the a** but, hey, its good for the abs!

. I'm always up for a trip and planning is a part of the fun. I'll go anywhere. Well, almost. Eat, Love, Pray might have convinced me to consider India. I feel euphoric while hiking in the Grand Canyon, and running the Colorado River through the canyon is always on my bucket list. Summer of 2010 I spent 7 weeks on Caye Caulker in Belize volunteering at a school for a month and playing for 3 weeks. I even got scuba certified! I spent my spring break last year in Beijing on an educatiional trip to China. I do so love travel and it can be to outpost areas or cities although I'm not really a city girl.
I had the good fortune of having 27 years of an amazing marriage before my husband died of bladder cancer. I wouldn't trade the extrodinary journey for anything other than having him back. He was teaching us life's lessons until the very end. My two children are married and moving to Santa Fe (daughter and husband) and Baltimore (son will attend Johns Hopkins). I'm not much for talking on the phone and my daughter once told me it's not ok to ignore the family ringtone. I don't, but I do turn off the volume at times.
Page has been my home for 8 years but I've returned to the Grand Canyon where I've lived off and on for my adult life. I'll be the k-12 counselor which will hopefully be a LITTLE less stressful than K-5 counseling in a school of about 800 students, 93% of who are Navajo.
I am a fairly direct person. Honesty is best but brutal honesty is never the way. My friends often tell me I am resiliant, strong, kind, caring, "cute," and a lot of fun. Put me in a room of strangers and I'll make friends...and they tend to be democrats who believe in social justice.
