Meet someone special from United States. I'm an independent woman looking to be not quite so independent. I live in an absolutely gorgeously beautiful place where I can watch brown bears feeding on salmon from my living room, in my bare feet with a cup of coffee. That’s my very favorite thing to do. Other things I like are traveling, car camping, gardening, woodworking, and projects around the house. I’ve also developed a sort of strange obsession with making miniatures – pics on request. I dabble in local politics and served on the local assembly for a few years. Liberal to very liberal. I like sleeping on my deck under the stars.
I'm retired from a career with state government; before that I guided backpacking trips for a number of years, and I lived in Italy for a bit.
IРІР‚в„ўve no kids of my own; my late husband had three but they were pretty well grown by the time we got together. IРІР‚в„ўm recently overjoyed that my only niece has produced twin boys; they just turned two. I visit them in southern California as often as I think they can stand visitors.
I like Rachel Maddow and Jon Stewart; I listen to NPR and BBC; sometimes I watch Al Jazeera on my computer.

I was born in Pa.USA the second child in the family My father was killed in a boating accident at Penn Yan Kuaka Lake on his 30th birthday I was 8 years old at the time. I was left for a time with an aunt in Pa. While my mother went to California to get away. My mother came after me about a year later and took me to California to live with her. I lived in Ca. untill I meet a marine and got married the day after I turned 15 years old. He took me back to Wisconsin to live and we tried to build a life together. After having five children I was on my own with them. He did not support them. I returned to Pa where I had family for moral support. It was very difficult to try to pay a baby sitter and work as the wages were not enough to support the baby sitting and the rest of us as well. My mother took my youngest son at 6 months to Alaska for a short time to visit a sister here. Six months later she was not back with him and I insisted she send tickets for my self and the rest of my children to come to Anchorage as well. She did and I arrived in Anchorage the summer of 1968. My uncle worked for the Anchorage School district. There was a man that worked with him in the maintenance Department his name was Jack. His Dalmatian dog had puppies and my uncle took us over to his place to see them and Jack and I meet for the first time. He was a bachelor with a dog. Had been married twice but had no children. We had him to Thanksgiving dinner. He was going home for two weeks to spend Christmas with his mother and his family. He offered to my uncle that I could use his car while he was out of town if I would take him to the airport and pick him up on his return. I agreed to and he took me out to dinner before going to the airport,After dinner we went to his log cabin to get his suit cases and inside the door he had hung misseltoe so he kissed me under it.
I dropped him off at the Airport and he was gone 2 weeks. When he arrived back home I picked him up we went to breakfast and he asked me to marry him. We were married Feb. 14 1969. He was 41 and I was 26. He raised the children as his own. And we were married for 37 years. I went to work for the School District in 1969. I retired from them Nov. of 1990 on a medical I had ruptured Disks in my lower back and had back surgery the last of Nov. that year.
Jack died of Aden carcinoma Dec 19th 2004.

I like to go out to eat occasionally and dancing to Country-Western music (Western 2-step). It is difficulty to find a dance partner who knows the true CW 2-step. If you are that person and have the same interest as myself, then send me an email. We might "click" or we might not.
Also, I was born and raised a country girl who like antiques and a traditional style of living.
Other than art, I like to cook by traditional recipes, and I am in the process of compiling a cook book with very old recipes.
My health is relative good and I like to stay active.

. Have worked in diverse fields from manager position to running my own business for several years and enjoyed it all. I remodeled a house and sold it for a profit and remodeled one to live in. Have taught school, tutored, chaperoned, and other related volunteer activities. I enjoy target shooting ( presently out of practice) but am not hard core on fitness activities. Prefer tai chi, walking and hiking. Have lived in several states and seen the beauty of nature everywhere. I love cooking, baking, entertaining occasional small parties, and small group activities.
I recently moved to Alaska and am living a childhood dream just having made the drive here. Am looking forward to exploring, hunting, and fishing. Although I like adventure, adrenaline junkie I am not!
Attending the "Made in Alaska" craft fair was a real treat. The farmers markets and many local shops are things I look forward to when the season changes for those activities to be available.
I hear the call of the wild to dog mushing here in the North, and whale and glacier watching and ferry rides in the South.
Would love to have a special affectionate lifetime companion; someone to enjoy activities with and to share scientific ideas and development with.

. Looking for a friend for activity partner that doesn't judge a person by their age. Can you climb a tree? I can. I love animals and have dogs and a cat. My ideal vacation, besides geocaching is to go to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary to volunteer.

. I have tried sky-diving and parasaling, now I want to hang-glide and maybe bungee jump. I also want to take a rafting trip. If you have a sense of adventure maybe we are right for each other. I dislike arrogance, dishonesty, and men who are afraid to show affection. I want someone to take long walks with, plan with and travel with. I love beaches, sunsets, dancing in the dark or just dancing anywhere, and hottubs.
I have lived in Alaska almost 44 years and now find that the winters are just too dark and long so I want to check out warmer climates for a month or two. I have a very caring personality, I see the cup as half full instead of half empty. I have a strong sense of patriotism. Hearing the National Anthem almost always brings a tear to my eye. I am happy with where I am in life but would like someone to share it with.
I want someone to enjoy life with, not necessarily looking for marriage but am ready for what might happen. I want someone who will accept me for who I am and not expect to change me and I will give him the same courtesy.
