Date men and women from United States / Alaska / Petersburg, 35 year old

Date people from Petersburg, United States. I am a laid back girl who loves to laugh even if it is at myself. I am kind, caring, generous, sweet, funny, loyal and honest. I am new to Alaska. I have lived all over the world and enjoy traveling, but would consider myself a Midwest girl at heart. I love to cook and explore new flavors and textures. I also read a lot, I usually have a pile of books by my bed. I definitely enjoy being outdoors and would rather go for a hike then run on a treadmill. I am over the bar/club scene (it was never my scene to be honest). I come from a very solid family background (my parents just celebrated 41 years together this fall). I am close with both my parents. It's not that I love Michigan State Men's Basketball (GO SPARTANS!!). I think Tom Izzo is an amazing basketball coach and has done awesome things with the MSU basketball program.
I am looking for a partner, not a provider. A man who is over his "selfish phase" and is looking to share his life, and is not just looking for a quick fling. Someone I can watch "Family Guy" and "Futurama" with as well as MythBusters and just about anything on the Food Network and Discovery Channel. You should be funny, nice, loyal, fairly intelligent and able to hold a conversation on various topics. Pretty much you should have all the qualities you would consider essential in a best friend, oh and you have to like animals! I am looking for a guy who can go hiking or camping but also cleans up well and still believes in opening a car door for his date, and holding hands in public.
UPDATE: After some hilarious and occasionally horrifying dating experiences from this site, I feel like I should clarify what I am looking for.
1) I am NOT looking for a man who expects me to be his: ATM, Laundromat, Mother, Sister, Rebound etc. If you aren't ready to date or be in a relationship, please do not contact me!
2) Please don't e-mail me and ask me to "get at you" I won't.............Ever.
3) All invitations to "Pound Town" will be ignored. No, I don't know where it is, and I am not interested in finding it.
4) Please take the time to spell check your e-mail. Intelligence and humor attract me. Also, "text speak" should be avoided until I get to know you better. "I wnt 2 meet U"....well enough said.
5) Lastly, (and this kind of goes with number 1) I am not looking for a "project". I don' want to "fix" you. If you aren't happy with who you are, then you probably shouldn't be dating.
Hopefully this helps. I don't want to come across as super picky or a control freak, and I honestly didn't think I needed to state any of this, but after my last few experiences, well it is clear to me that I needed to.
Thanks,
Laurie
