Hi. I am looking for someone who is honest, easy going, laughs easily, takes care of their body/mind and is physically active. I strive to live simply and would like a partner who doesn't define themselves with material things/possessions. A part of that lifestyle was to purposefully build a dry log home heated with wood, primarily. All the money saved goes towards travel and being able to quit working full-time in the near future to travel more, work/volunter overseas. I do have a gravity water system for the kitchen and shower that works great.
I take pride in being resourceful, I.e. making/fixing things instead of automatically buying, finding usable items from the transfer stations, recycling/reusing items, etc.
I enjoy traveling to out of the way countries, developing countries and ones that have fun/challenging/remote bicycle touring options. I don't do the package tours or hire guides. I travel with the locals, sleep in the cheapest hotels and eat where the locals eat. I've done much of my traveling alone. A partner to share the experiences of travel would be awesome. It is not always easy but the memories and bonds you can form are priceless. You would need to be adventurous and willing to rough it.
My partner needs to be independent, sure of herself, and willing to have her own personal time. I want us to compliment each other.
Living in Alaska has been my dream since growing up in Minnesota. I don't work a typical 9 to 5 job with 2 weeks off a year. Don't get me wrong, I am a hard worker and am very responsible. I just don't buy into the rat race our society seems to think is "normal". There are so many other ways to live a productive and happy life.
I'm not your typical "guy" who is out of touch with his feelings and only capable of locker room conversation. I guess I am a new age-y type of person with practical skills. I regularly practice yoga, have skillfully built two log cabins/houses and appreciate the diversity of cultures in this world. I can clean, smoke and can my Copper River Reds, enjoy going to the orchestra and listen to nearly all music genres except new country.

I'm serious when it counts. I have varied interests and pursue them all with vigor - challenging myself is a great way to grow and learn about yourself in my experience. For me, the biggest satisfactions in life are the quiet ones and I can't really explain them beyond that here. I'm close with my family, my friends are dear too and I make a habit of visiting them often. While Alaska will always be home base - I love to travel, have extensively and plan to continue to (whether sailing overseas or flying in-State). My dog and I love to get around the State for work and play. I'm stubborn in many respects, can be mischievous, but I know right from wrong and have developed the bad habit of doing what's right. :) I'm thoughtful and don't leave the seat up on purpose. I've lost loved ones and feel like I know and have a deeper appreciation of that which is most important - not that I didn't previous or anything, but it's certainly reinforced now. My friends rave about how I have taught them the insigificance of scrubbing dishes BEFORE placing them in the dishwasher (so has my lab). :)

I work for the National Park Service so my life style is active. I love outdoor activity. I am looking to meet someone who likes to travel and is able to travel.. I am finishing up my second degree in parks and recreation management. I don't own a TV because I would rather be reading or outdoors. My work in Alaska is seasonal, and I am not sure if I will stay through the winter. I will probably be traveling, so can you travel and be spontaneous? I currently have travel plans thru march of next year, it would be nice to have a beautiful companion by my side. I am close to my parents as well as my brother, so traveling usually includes them. I plan to work for the park service until I retire, My current position is at Charlie river, however I like to move around so maybe I will work at Denali next season.
