I am a person who has a great a appreciation for life, and all of the experiences that come with it. I am very driven and a goal orientated person who wants the most out of life. I am very passioante about things that are important to me, but have an open mind to learn and new things. I have a 10 year old son, who means more than anything to me and is my whole world. Who I am looking for, the problem that I am struggling with in answering this question is how much do you say versus holding back. But to sum it up, I am looking for someone to spend good, meaningful quality time with, and letting things grow from there. I am not into playing games, and really feel that you can determie if you have a connection with someone very quickly. I am looking for someone who is honest, caring, and realizes that life is some much better when you have someone to share it with. Trying to find someone who is willing to treat someone how they would like to be treated seems to be a little more difficult that I thought.

This next paragraph is a bit long, so I apologize, but I feel it is necessary. I am a hugely outspoken skeptic and atheist; if religion is important to you, it will probably be impossible for us to click. I speak publicly and host meetups about the problems I see in religion, and I don't think if would be fair to subject my match to any "emotional hostility" they might indirectly encounter that is associated with my activism. I would never directly act hurtful towards my significant other! I am a kind and moral human being who loves people and loves life! However, to me it seems inevitable that if we disagree on a fundamental level, there would always be a sort of rift between us. Therefore, I am not actively seeking a relationship with someone of faith, unless you have a unique solution to the aforementioned problem. Lastly, if children were to come into the picture, I would not want them to be branded or indoctrinated to any religion at a young age. I would encourage them to think about and discuss the subject with us as often as they liked, but the choice of a religion is a complicated subject which is along the lines of choosing one's political affiliation or one's college major, and as such I favor raising a child without specific religious rituals or teachings until they reach a high enough level of cognizance to make their own informed decision. (In case you're thinking "He's against Christmas?!", don't worry...we would still have holiday gift giving and a tree to decorate...atheists definitely enjoy spending time with family and friends, sharing love, and company, and giving gifts! I just favor doing it without virgin birth songs and stories)
As you might expect, I'm very interested in science and philosophy...I often watch jaw dropping nature shows like Nova, Planet Earth, Great Migrations, and so on. Space and Cosmology are of great interest to me as well. I really dig authors like Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking. People who know me best have said that I'm the smartest person they know, and often approach me with their most difficult questions or problems. I constantly aim to improve my understanding, and although I don't have a college degree, I'm no slouch. I like to brush up on subjects just for the fun of it, and I hope to one day get back to college when I have the time and effort to devote.
I'm hoping to meet someone who I mesh with philosophically. Someone who will lend moral support to my musical goals, and who will let me support her goals and passions as well. OK, here we go: I've been in the Army for 16 years and love my job, but not nearly as much as my 5 amazing kids who live back in Ohio. Who I'm Looking For: Someone that can hold an intelligent conversation, make me laugh until I cry, doesn't take themselves too seriously, takes me for who I am, and can make me smile by just seeing them walk in the room. Basically, the simple things, and someone to share my life with.
Now, with all of that out of the way. I enjoy hunting, camping, shooting, snowboarding (even though I'm not that great at it), and I want to learn how to fly-fish and maybe get my skydiving license. So in other words, if I can do it outdoors or it gets the heart pumping I'm all about it, except for rock climbing, I don't know why I can jump out of a plane, but can't hang off the side of a cliff, crazy huh. I am a huge History buff and I actually enjoy watching the news. While I enjoy a good night out on the town, I'm just as happy, if not more, cuddling on the couch watching a good movie.
I enjoy traveling, and prefer to do it by road trip, that way you can stop in the small towns, meet the locals, and eat at "Mom and Pop" restaurants. I would love to go to Australia and Ireland.
While it may sound like I'm pretty 'country' and live in jeans and a t-shirt (which is kind of true), I've been told that I clean up pretty good, and have no problem going from the bar room to the board room, or even the ball room when I have to.

I have a great career as a scientist and project manager that I really enjoy.
