Date single man from Alabama, United States. Not really looking for anyone or anything in particular. Single Dad with two teenage sons as the current primary focus. Oldest will attend UAB this fall, but will continue to live at home. Younger son will be a freshman in high school. We have two Siamese cats and one tabby that I think actually owns the place. Or so he says.....
Hopefully I will eventually want to do something other than be with the kids. Right now I wonder if I will ever have time for me. I'm professionally employed. Been in Human Resources for most of my career. At home, I keep a very clean house and admit to doing the usual domestic chores. I cook, I clean, I even iron and do windows. HA! It's got to be done I guess. The point is I'm willing to do whatever it takes and I'm not too good to roll up my sleeves and get stuff done.
I'm physically fit and somewhat tan. I fast-walk 3.5 miles every morning before doing anything else. I'm not a party animal, I don't smoke and don't like to be around it. I haven't had a good reason to drink in almost a year and a half (but I do like cold beer, margaritas and a tall vodka tonic). I guess I'm most comfortable with someone who isn't radically different.....but I have friends at all ends of the spectrum.
Not sure what type of girl will strike a chord. If she likes community theatre (attends or performs) that would be good. My younger son is very active in local theatre so I'm there building sets, running lights and sound and doing whatever else it takes to help the Director and cast deliver a great show. If she allows sport-bikes in the garage, that's a big plus. That's the link with my older son and yes, we look cool in our racing leathers and Sidi boots. So, if you're looking for the so-called Man's Man.....the hunter, the fisherman, the golfer, the tennis pro, etc., etc., keep on clicking the arrow. That's not me. I can do them all, but haven't in years and haven't missed it. At all. Look at it this way....I don't disappear every weekend and show back up on Sunday night wanting supper on the table.
Finally...hopefully she will know that God is more than what mainstream religion portrays. I'm not in church every Sunday and Wednesday. I don't have Bible verses on my license plate. I guess I just see the spiritual side of things more so than the natural side. I'm a good person who treats everyone with dignity and respect. I can't remember the last time I raised my voice to anyone. So, no strict religious types need apply......we probably wouldn't get along anyway. That's about it for now.

I am a native Virginian, however, born into a military family; and have lived in many other parts of the country. Now, being the shy, modest person that I am, I found it difficult to complete my profile by talking about myself. So, I asked my favorite interviewer on tv, Jon Stewart, to lob a few softballs my way. He agreed on the condition that I stop hanging around the stage door at the studio.
JON: Steve, Ms. Right is out there somewhere, so lets not keep her waiting. What are you most passionate about?
ME: Connecting with people, Jon. You could say that I'm a "people person". Enjoying "good" music together...you probably won't meet a more active music enthusiast. And, like you, I tend to find the humor in most every situation; as I really enjoy making others laugh. By the way, I'm a big fan of yours.
JON: I get that. Now, what qualites are you looking for in another person? I'm sure all the ladies will be on the edge of their seat for this one.
ME: Intelligence. A sense of humor, of course. Kindness...enthusiasm. Bonus points for having the ability to tie a knot in a cherry stem with her tongue.
JON: What about her appearance, though?
Me: Well, you know how when presented with the choice between Pamela Anderson and Tina Fey, most guys would pick Pamela? Well, I'd take Tina!
JON: Me, too. So, how do you usually spend your leisure time, Steve-O?
ME: Oh, the usual stuff. Sitting in on town hall meetings...in towns I don't live in. Helping the elderly cross intersections...despite their pleas that they were fine where they were. Walking in and out of Best Buy...just for the greeting. Waving to people from a distance; giving them the impression that I know them. ...Playing Twister in the nude; which everyone at the city pool seems to disapprove of.
JON: Well, THAT'S a picture I'd like to get out of my head. Let's change subjects. Who would you say has been the most influential person in your life?
ME: Probably Forrest Gump. He taught me that when life's problems become overwhelming...go for a long run.
JON: Good Advice! At your age, what are you most thankful for?
ME: ...That, even at my age, my butt hasn't fallen!
JON: Right. Now, with all of your world traveling, you're probably not much of a reader?
ME: Au contraire, mon fraire! Okay, I'll get serious here for a moment. My natural intellectual curiousity combined with an epiphany I had in 2003 compelled me to gain knowledge and a better understanding of world events. My recent reads include Paul Thompson's "The Terror Timeline"; Mark Bowen's "Thin Ice"; and "The Great Deluge", by Douglas Brinkley. I'm now reading "Confidence Men"; the latest book by perhaps my favorite author, Ron Susskind.
JON: Good stuff. Okay, you're the music guy. We agree on all the classic artists and bands. What about upcoming talents?
ME: I tend to like the artists that don't get played on mainstream radio. Of course, growing up in the '70's, Jon, I came to appreciate singer/songwriters. But I still like my Rock 'n' Roll!
JON: Well, this has certainly been, um, interesting. What would you like to close with, Sparky? Say it to the reader...
ME: First of all, if you are in Nashville or Atlanta, don't close me out because you think we're too far apart. I travel to those cities often to visit friends and to take in the wonderful music scene. I spends perhaps even more time on the Gulf Coast! And, though I'm not looking to move, I am open to relocating to nearly any major city in the Southeast U.S. for the right person. Like most people on this service, I am looking for my soul mate. So, if you've read all of this and I've elicited a few laughs, then I'd love to hear from you!
