I grew up in Montgomery, AL, went to college in CT, and am back home living in Birmingham, AL. I am a very hard working dedicated person and I live life to it's fullest. I laugh often and am very optimistic. I think my smile is contagious :) I have two young children (both girls), ages 8 and 10, that are the light of my life. My 10 year old is very smart and a blast to be around. My 8 year old is fun too but in an athletic sort of way. They both play soccer and I coach them; it's been great fun for all of us.
I am a lifetime student and I have 2 undergrad degrees, an MA, and a Ph.D. I am a professor and I love my job. Being around my students helps keep me feeling young.
In my free time I spend lots of time with my children (they don't live with me, but they live very close by), play the guitar and drums, exercise daily (I'm training for a marathon), mountain bike, and canoe on the lake and on the rivers. I'm always try to keep busy doing something. Oh, and I LOVE to read.
I enjoy helping others more than anything else. That's why I'm a teacher. I would put everything I'm doing on hold if someone I knew needed help with anything at all.
I love to travel, but I don't get to do it as often I would like. I have friends all over the country and try to visit them as often as I can. I usually just have to pay for airfare, which is nice.

I am serious about what I want. I don't feel opposites attract and stay together. I want my partner to enjoy the things I do and think like I do and vise versa. The vise versa part is fairly easy because I enjoy everything. I like getting dressed to kill and like bumming around. I enjoy the city life as much as the country life although I prefer the country and visiting the city. I enjoy a nice drink almost as much as a great meal. Yes, I can cook. As far as my personality, I am compassionate and tend to be silly at times. I am very outgoing. I'm not the jealous type. I try to be a good person and try to do some sort of good deed at least once a week. I feel kindness and compassion are very important as well as manners. I find a woman who is compassionate can melt my heart. Speaking of which, being musical is one of the biggest aphrodisiacs to me. So is confidence. I am confident but not cocky. There is a difference.
I have high standards I think everyone should. But, that comes from learning lessons the hard way. I think chemistry, intelligence, personality, character and looks are all important.
