I firmly believe that as long as we are mentally capable, we should never stop learning, growing and experiencing new things in life, and that we should take steps to not become stagnant. At the same time, I strive to be content with where I am in the present. Being able to laugh at myself is also a must and laughter shared with friends is great medicine.
THE PERFECT DATE:
Not sure what the "perfect date" would be, but I know it would include good conversation, getting to know each other and lots of laughter. Fun outings, new adventures, relaxing, I like them all. I admit that I'm analytical, so I need someone who can handle that and nudge me when I need to lighten up.
I've always known how to take care of myself and I'm an extremely responsible person, yet I'm young at heart and there are many things I know I'd enjoy doing that I probably haven't thought of or experienced yet.
PAST INFO: I dated many years before marrying in my mid-30's because I had hoped to marry only once. We divorced after 10 years of marriage. Having done both the dating scene and marriage, by choice I've not dated in several years because I've been content on my own. I enjoy doing many things with my friends. I've also been working way too much! In addition to my regular job, I've owned my own pet sitting business for 7 years. I now have people I trust to cover a lot of the pet sits so I can have some down time. Lately, I've been thinking it would be nice to get to know someone to enjoy spending time with and doing fun things with, but I'm not necessarily looking for a lifetime partner. At this point, I'm still not sure how involved I'd want to be. But I know I'd like to enjoy getting to know new people and developing new friendships.

I'm from New Orleans and love the food, architecture and culture. I also lived a few years in the D.C. area before relocating here almost 20 years ago. I love doing anything that helps animals and it's not unusual for me to have a dog hair or 2 on my clothes. :-) My stepdaughter made me a grandmother when I was just 36, so I have a 17 year old granddaughter and a 13 year old grandson. It still feels strange to be a grandparent at my age, but I'm extremely close to them. I recently chaperoned my granddaughter's Senior IB Class to Europe. We visited Italy, France and England in 11 days. It was a great experience and I now have the traveling bug.
I love any kind of dancing because to me it's the ultimate way to relax, let go and feel free (not sure how to explain it), but I rarely get to. Zumba has become my favorite exercise class. It incorporates a lot of dancing, yet it's the best workout I've ever had.
Having spent my childhood and younger adulthood in N.O., I've done Mardi Gras to the hilt and had a lot of great times. I like that Mardi Gras here is more family oriented. I'm in a Mardi Gras organization and enjoy the float ride, throwing to children and older people.
I love almost any kind of music except opera and hard core rap. Younger adults have introduced me to some artists I never thought I'd like. So, my taste ranges from Sinatra (who my granddaughter now also loves), to Kings of Leon, to some Country, to Black Eyed Peas, to Motown, to Linkin Park, to Big Band, to Stevie Wonder, to the Oldies, to the Allman Brothers, to Luther Vandross, to anything you can dance to - you get the picture.
A group of us get together at least once a month and choose something different to do each time. We are classy women, but we have so much fun that inevitably people will come over and ask us who we are.
If you're into ridiculous game playing, please don't waste my time. Life is too short to spend it trying to figure out if someone is sincere.
