Date a soulmate from Alabama, United States. Well...this has been quite an interesting experience for me as I am sure it has been for those of you who read my profile. All in all...not for me. But I have truly learned some things about myself through the online "dating" thing, so I think I'll share just because I can since I am still paying. Hopefully some of this will help some of you very, very nice men out there as well...because I think you are out there.
First of all, I have learned that at my age I don't really care to change my entire life and that in itself is major. I am not 1/2 of anything. I am 100% unabashedly and happily myself. I have raised two wonderful, smart, accomplished daughters largely on my own. During that time I held down a full time job...I have a great career, cleaned my own house, cooked, sacrificed (willingly) and earned three additional degrees culminating with. PhD while my daughters were in college...Roll Tide by the way. And frankly, I looked pretty darn good while doing it.
I am funny, smart, authentic, and down to earth. And...like a lot of women my age, I have gained a few pounds and I am not happy about it. So, guys, when you put your profiles that you are looking for someone slender and toned, you pretty much automatically discount those of us who have gained a few pounds and who are very self-conscious about it...but have way more to offer than slender and toned. And when I say a few pounds...I really mean a few, but to women any discussion about what you may find acceptable brings out the very worst fears in us. After all...Jennifer Aniston is slender and toned...can we compete with that? Frankly I am too happy with myself to live up to that stress...although I was really hot at 25 and 40 myself!
So...I love, love, love me and I'm pretty forgiving of others as well.
I learned from a very nice man who I never met, but whose profile picture inspire me...that I thought I might like to ride horses. So, I recently started taking lessons. Thank you to him although we never met and never will...he opened up something interesting for me and I'm having fun with that.
I have learned that I am pretty discriminating and not in a bad way.

About your profile pictures. Big surprise...we don't want to see pictures of your car or your motorcycle or you when you had hair and a six pack. When I was 16 I dated cars. At 56...yep, my birthday is Friday June 22nd...I really want to know what your take is on emptying the dishwasher or taking out the trash. Good luck with finding women whose real desire in life is to walk hand in hand at sunset down the beach or cuddle on the couch while you watch television. Not happening guys unless there is something substantial happening first.
I have read over and over how you want us to fit into your lifestyle...ummm...really? Since I see the same people over and over...I'm thinking that isn't working out so well for any of us since we all seem to be in the same boat.
I think some of you guys are absolutely great! Really! And I sure hope you are finding what you're looking for...but guys...if she doesn't answer your emails or wink back...chances are it's just not there (by the way...I think winks are ridiculous anyway). Let it lie. Women my age in the south tend to want to be polite and answer...even if we are not interested. Go figure. I don't understand it either. We aren't horrible...we just don't want to hurt your feelings.
And...whatever you do, do not...under any circumstances...ever, ever, ever Google her and go to her house. Trust me on this one. It is a deal breaker and we have enough to think about at this stage of the game to be worried about that!
Since this is not going to be my preferred method of meeting a potential whatever...but I am still paying for this...and since I have had two glasses wine and feel in a magnanimous mood...I thought I would share.
