Meet a woman from Auburn, United States. Well, I just moved to Alabama for my job. My story is probably very similar to many on this site - i have spent most of my time concentrating on my work and am now trying to bring the balance of work and social into my life. I love my job very much and am looking for someone who can respect that and maybe embrace it (it can actually be a lot of fun for a spouse). I am also very independent and that seems to be a little tough for guys to stomach, but i think i am worth it ;)!
I love sports, working out, traveling, reading, volunteering and spending time with friends and family. And that brings us to family - i am the oldest of six and i love them dearly. Although we live all over the US, we are extremely close.
I just adopted a son from foster care. He is a sweet six year old with more energy than I know what to do with.

I am a study in contradictions. I am both quiet and loud, shy and bold, adventurous and timid, sarcastic and kind, open-minded and opinionated, giving and stubborn, social and a homebody. I love to laugh loudly and often, and if you can't make me laugh then I guarantee it won't work between us.
After two failed long-term relationships, I am much more cautious this time and less trusting. I have baggage - I won't lie, and I expect that you do too. But if we can do our best to take the lessons learned and then put the suitcase in the closet we might get somewhere.
My passions are my family (two brothers and a sister whom I adore), reading great books, strong coffee, great red wine, cooking, bad TV, MN Twins baseball and MN Golden Gopher Hockey, the beach, fabulous out of the way restaurants, geeking out over weather radar, The Dave Matthews Band, lazy mornings with coffee and the newspaper, and my cats. Yep, I'm putting it out there...I'm a 38 year old single woman with two cats - deal with it!
I would love to meet someone who shares at least some of these interests. What attracts me to a man is a nice smile, a kind heart, a sharp mind, and a wicked sense of humor. I want to be with someone who has their own personality and interests, but truly wants to the be with me too, and accepts me, flaws and all. While I hate over the top PDA, I am indeed a snuggler, hand-holder, and love having someone to kiss who knows how to kiss back. Physical affection is very important to me and you need to be as comfortable showing it as receiving it.
As a Northerner moving to the South I've found that some of my beliefs are not appreciated or tolerated here, so let me lay those out now, as they won't change. I'm liberal, pro-choice, pro gay marriage (my brother is gay so it's a no brainer to me), not a racist, and my life does not revolve around church, nor do I see it ever doing so, although I do consider myself a person of faith. I say this now only so there are no surprises later. I hope I can find someone who appreciates these values because right now I feel very alone in my beliefs in this geographical setting. In no way am I saying that everyone on the South embodies these stereotypes, but some do and I'm weeding them out now.
I have a degree in English and have worked in financial planning, retail management, attended pastry school, and now work in restaurant management. For now it is a job, but I'm working on finding a career I'm passionate about.
My life story is complex, but overall I'm a fairly well-adjusted individual. My heart is big and I guess that's why it tends to get broken easily. I feel things deeply and tend to over think a bit. My interests are wide and my eyes and mind are open to new and wonderful experiences. I hope to find someone to share both the spectacular and the mundane with, who can make me laugh, and challenge both my mind and spirit.
