I was in the Army for 6 years as an Infantryman and deployed to Afghanistan as a 50cal gunner but retired from Active National Guard duty in December. Since I'm getting out and switching careers, I am going to nursing school which is kind of the opposite of being a gunner, but I like the idea of the high pace and saving lives. I've lived around Birmingham for 5 years now but was born in Norfolk, VA. I've lived in NY, NJ, PA, IL, WI, NV, GA, and multiple cities in all those states. But, I mostly grew up outside Chicago in the burbs, so I try to make it back there often to see my best friends. Also, I am fiercely loyal to my Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks. I definitely love to travel. I've been to Canada and Mexico like most people but also all over Germany, Prague in the Czech Republic, Ireland, and more recently Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan. Australia, Fiji and Bora Bora are still at the top of my to-do list.
What am I looking for? That's pretty easy. I just want someone genuine and positive who appreciates the little things in life. We don't have to like all the same things, although that would probably be really nice. We don't even have to feel the same way about different issues. But I've learned that life is too short to be doing anything other than enjoying every single minute of it. I don't want someone who is going to let something little ruin their whole day for no reason. And I realize everyone has a past, and most everyone has had their heart broken a time or two. But, I don't want someone who thinks the best years are over and wants to live in the past. I want someone who is driven to succeed in life on their own, because they appreciate the value of hard work. At the same time, I want someone who I can cut up with, joke around, have inside jokes with and who hates when I'm not around because we play around so much.

I am kind of shy at first around new people, but I am actually a really outgoing person that tries to enjoy life to its fullest and bring joy to the people around me. I will have to say that I have started to lose my shyness because trying to message people on here to try to find a common interest with someone of to let them know that I am interested. This may seem off the wall coming from a guy, but all or my life my one goal has been for my future family. I have pushed myself in my college education so that I can one day find a serious relationship, start a family, and be able to support that family so that we can just worry about our lives and enjoy it. My father has always instilled in me the values of being a good man and my mother has always tried to better me so that I am a good husband and father. I feel like these values are what has made me who I am and has allowed me to get where I am at so that I might one day have a family of my own.
If you are stuck on yourselves and bring a lot of drama with you into the relationship then I am sorry but it will not work out. I am looking for someone that will sit and enjoy our time with each other and will talk and work thing out. I am very laid back when it comes to some things in life. I have learned that if I stress out over every little thing life just gets a lot more complicated then it needs to be. I take an approach of going through life and trying to look at it from all angles and figuring out the problems that come along the way.

The troubles that we go through in our lives are what makes us as strong as we are. We are always finding out how strong we are and just when we think that we have reached the end of our rope. We found more strength to get through things whether it be from an outside source, our friends or our family. We will always find more strength when we are around others.
