I'm not too recently separated and living on my own for the first time in a very long time. I'm looking for someone to be with, go for a run together, hit a fourteener, or catch a DJ on Friday night. I'm not looking to jump right into another marriage, but I don't want to just date the first thing in a skirt, that's why I'm on here. I want to feel a connection and have the time that I spend with someone mean something. Between career and being a father I'd like to make my social interactions count.
My favorite music is EDM, that usually surprises people, but there's something about the way it makes me feel. It can be said that music is a physical place and some music is that place to an order of magnitude. EDM takes me there every time. Nothing motivates me more when I'm at the end of a two hour run than beats thumping in my ears like the heart in my chest. It reminds me of those moments at two in the morning when you've been dancing your face off the whole night and the deejay reaches in and pulls forward a counterpoint backbeat and slams you in the chest with it. No one makes a sound, but a thousand arms fly overhead in synchrony at the joy of that connected moment. Even if the vocals are melancholy the mood never changes, because it's hard to feel anything but happiness as you exist one thumping moment to the next. If you haven't experienced it, you don't understand what you've missed.
But I'm just as interested in opera and Miles Davis and willing to enjoy nearly any kind of music. I enjoy art, coffee, martinis, and cooking. I have a wicked sense of humor and I'm not afraid to use it. I have no pets that live with me, so I have no aversion to dogs, cats, pot bellied pigs or chupacabras (if you have one). I have one son who stays with me sometimes, so I have no problem with someone that has kids of their own. I'm open, quick witted, suit and tie during the day kinda guy but shorts and t-shirts every other moment, and looking to have fun.
I have an intense passion for cooking. I don't think that there is a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than in the kitchen with glass of wine in hand. My philosophy in the kitchen is that if it only took an hour it was done wrong. There is no cuisine that I will not tackle, I think that each has it's own unique quality that the cook gets to impart his own personality on. Life is way too short for bad food.
I think that I'm actually a fairly simple person. The thing that I enjoy most in life is to just be around those that I care about most, nothing more complicated than that.
I enjoy the wind on my face and the sun on my hands when I'm on a long distance run. Exercise is very important to me because it's as good for the mind as the body and connecting with someone that shares that value is important. I've got eleven full marathons under my belt, countless five, ten, and even a twelve K runs, and the tens of thousands of miles of training that went with it. One wall in my office is covered floor to ceiling in racing bibs. Each one was a blast to run. I love my work, I like who I am and the life that I live. I bear no ill will toward anyone and always find the humor in even the darkest of situations. Life is too short to be pissed off and hostile and we should spend as much time laughing as possible.
