One of my closest friends said I was hard to describe: someone who works in the corporate world, has a passion for riding and wrenching on motorcycles, enlisted in the military at a young age, is a painfully loyal friend, called over 10 states 'home' and lived in India for 13 months, volunteered in search rescue and firefighting, been in Colorado for over 15 years (with the detour in India) and has yet to see a Red Rocks concert (I know, blasphemy, but I now have a show booked for July, so am making some progress there!)
For me, it's the sum that makes the person, not a single specific trait, experience, career, etc.. I am learning that we are all responsible for our own happiness (although others can help) and believe that a life without some risk is not much of a life at all.
My dad taught me a great appreciation of food (he lived his second life as a formally schooled chef) and I really enjoy cooking & entertaining for groups of friends and family. I live in the burbs which gets the dogs a nice yard, and I get an over-sized garage for the bike(s). Getting into the cities for me is a breeze and I most of my work commute is either to the airport or just across the house to the home office.
Work sends me to some cool places, but it can mean some time away from CO. The schedule is sort of erratic; maybe 4-5 days gone, 2 weeks home, then 2 weeks abroad, 3 weeks home. I like visiting new places and exploring the locations, trying out new food, meeting new people.
The woman I'm looking for would be positive about life, adaptable / flexible in almost any situation, confident about who she is and what she wants, a good communicator and someone who can hold her own in conversations, be sociable sometimes and able to relax at home other times. I don't really have a lot of expectations at the moment, just hoping to meet some genuine and nice people and see what happens.

Having said that, what I really would like, and would like to role model for them, is to eventually have a relationship where the bond between the husband and wife is the center of the home, not between the parents and kids. I think it's how things are supposed to be and I'm hopeful (and commited) to find it.
