I've recently relocated to the Eagle County area from Florida and have yet to meet anyone for friendship and comraderie. My new job will allow me to meet many male friends and acquaintences but I'll need a little help on the female side; hence, match.com. I've always interacted with my female friends on an entirely different plane and I find myself missing that unique dynamic.
I'm a 55 year old ponytailed (for the time being) gentleman who's primarily looking for a female companion/friend/buddy with whom I can share many of life's pleasures, indulgences and experiences. I am not married, in a committed relationship or even remotely interested in either at this time. Rather than seeking a girlfriend, I'm interested in meeting a friend who happens to be a girl. If things mutually progress beyond the platonic stage, we can cross that bridge when we come to it.
To me, independence is my most treasured "possession". I greatly cherish the freedom to do whatever I want to do, whenever I want to do it. Having said that, however, I would love to meet an independant, self-reliant single woman with a great sense of humor for a casual, no-pressure relationship. A consistent work-out buddy at a local gym comes to mind as an example of what I'm interested in finding. If you're overly sensitive, insecure, submissive, lack self-esteem or averse to my particular brand of irreverent humor (the occasional off-color joke or dropping the F-bomb once in a while), chances are we won't get along very well. As far as I'm concerned, nothing is sacred, so be prepared for a raised eyebrow from time to time. At least it will be interesting. :-)
Basically, I take things day-to-day and try to enjoy the wonderful opportunities life has to offer; it would embellish my life to meet a woman who shares that mind-set. I consider intelligence to be a huge plus. For me, stimulating, well-informed conversation is a must. Conversely, arrogance, close-mindedness, a lack of civility and disrespect for another's opinions are major turn-offs.
As my profile states, I am Agnostic. However, I respect everybody's beliefs and do not force my religious convictions (or lack of, I suppose) on anyone. It's imperative that others show the same level of consideration. Quite frankly, I have plenty of very religious friends (Christian, Jewish, etc.) and it's never been an issue or a deal breaker.
As for my physical appearance, I try to stay in shape year-round but in the interest of full disclosure, I've put on a few pounds over the winter due to laziness. For what it's worth, I'm back to training hard and consistently this spring and the weight is coming off quickly. Thanks to good genetics, I still have a full head of hair; no bald spots or receding hairline. The ponytail will be my third donation to Locks of Love; it's almost long enough to donate and I suspect this will be my last contribution. Typically, I shave my entire body with the exception of my head and underarms (it's a cycling/triathlon thing). I have teeth (both of them) and occasionally remember to breathe and chew with my mouth closed. You will not be overly embarrassed to be seen with me in public.
I'm into endurance sports (distance running, swimming, road biking, triathlon). In other words, my marginal athletic abilities lead me to avoid sports that involve a ball or lateral movement. I also enjoy day hiking and backpacking in places such as the Rockies and western North Carolina, occasionally camping under the stars for a few nights. I'm ready to attempt snowshoeing but have no interest in skiing or snowboarding.
Being an avid scuba diver, I'm always looking for an excuse for traveling to a good dive location.
I'm a musician as well, playing guitar (non-professionally) for over 40 years. If you play or sing, we have a lot to talk about and do.
