I am embarking on a new journey in life and want to find someone for friendship, companionship and more. Born in America, raised and educated in England (St John's College, Cambridge) and eventually, in a round about way ended up living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Lately, a really strong urge to somehow reconnect with my Japanese heritage has led me try to learn Japanese with somewhat limited success. When I Skype my parents in London I try to speak only Japanese but it is difficult. I enjoy watching Japanese dramas (subtitles required) and sometime anime.
I am quiet, especially around new people, so it takes me a while to loosen up and emerge from my shell. My favorite pastimes usually, but not always, involve the outdoors and nature in some way. I especially love rock climbing (usually in a gym) and hiking. I like to explore places and take lots of pictures to capture the moment. It doesn't matter whether it is a park, a museum, a textured wall, dew on a spider web - anything, anyone and anywhere that inspires a sense of wonder gives me great pleasure.
My lifestyle is simple and casual so I am a fish out of water where it comes to formal gatherings, fancy restaurants, bars, clubs, brand name goods, luxury cars etc. I have no interest in superficial trappings of a materialistic lifestyle.
