Date people from Venice, United States. A reporter once asked me what I see first when I look at a woman and I said "hair." That was true then and still is, but it would be misleading to say I don't notice the whole as well. (It would also be a mistake to think that this means I immediately assess someone's hair. It's about noticing the hair, not judging it!)
I also appreciate a woman who is not afraid to show her intelligence and respect that of others. I'm fortunate to be a good and quick learner, which serves me well both in my work and in relating to people. My closest friends describe me as empathetic and smart, and the empathy helps keep the smart under control (thank goodness!).
The things I am most grateful for include my health, good fortune and friends. I exercise daily (including at least a couple of gym visits a week), try to eat healthfully and be there for the people I care about, for animals and for my community. I have an abiding affection for music, literature, the arts, and a good laugh. I'm a writer at heart (and occasionally by trade) and love to work with words.
I'm told I'm an attentive listener and I think chemistry can develop as people get to know and appreciate each other. It can be like red wine, in need of a little air and aging. I don't go around with a long laundry list of qualifiers and disqualifiers for when I meet people, but I've been around long enough to know I don't have time for unnecessary drama. The people I like best are creative, sensual, open-minded and empathetic. The challenge I offer is to not try to "cut to the chase" too soon, since the REAL chase is at least half the fun.

My Venice house consists of a 1908 Victorian awaiting restoration, a new modern barn and workshop and about 1/2 acre of grounds awaiting careful patient hands. Not only will this home be a place of beauty, but perhaps offered for trading residences for long term world travel. When rest and quiet thinking is desired, my Maui ocean front condo or, for quick getaways my cruising boat await. I am a Physicist, ham radio operator since 12 years old, lover of chamber music and KPPC, KUSC, KCET and PBS who enjoys sailing, dining and classical concerts. You can find me restoring my Victorian house, puttering in my workshop, digging in my garden, or enjoying my homes in Venice Beach and Maui. I am optimistic about the future and see humankinds life beyond the stars... we are just children learning about life and where we live. Most of our physical needs will be taken care of by our inventions, and people will be free to pursue their inner desires. I like thinking, and certainly would like a partner who also enjoys speculation. This little essay sort of describes me... but I also like to work with my hands making telescopes, furniture, electronic gadgets and underwater apparatus. I even have a small tractor that I drive around my back yard and made a nice pond and waterfall. My match and I should be mutually attractive of course... and she should love classical music, intellectual pursuits, artistic endeavors, as well as sailing and grubbing in the garden. Let's see... aside from us being madly in love it would be nice to have a sweetheart who enjoyed puttering around in the kitchen and workshop... and had an inquiring mind hoping for scientific understanding and who enjoyed playing with new ideas. Most of all, some one who is comfortable to be with, both physically and psychologically. My family is fortunate in having extreme longevity - my dad lived to 101 and long life is common in my family, with my aunt passing at 105, and have listed my biological age, rather than my chronological age. I am looking for some one with which to grow old... an enduring, conscious loving relationship strengthened by time and mutual respect, with a circle of friends who also have permanence. It would also be wonderful to find someone with good social skills who enjoys developing new mutual friends and experiences. Ah, but when all is said and done, I think what really counts is the feeling of bliss and togetherness as we cuddle off to sleep.
