I volunteered in the Emergency Room as a patient representative - I've seen a little bit of everything, including open-heart surgery! I was just relieved that I didn't faint, because I was literally standing that close to the surgeons. I then went to work full-time in a hospital's cancer center as a patient advocate. I have never seen such courage and conviction in people fighting for their lives -- taking value in simple things that we forget about every day --it certainly was a humbling experience. Being able to touch someone's life and make it a little bit better is what gives me fulfillment in life. I want to meet someone that feels the same way.
