Date a soulmate from California, United States. Oh Match.com....we meet again. Oy vey or ole'?
So I was listening on NPR to this show called Monkey See that is a conversation between a few of the culture writers/ reviewers. These guys and one girl were culturally curious, extremely funny, nerdy and self-deprecating. The topic was cultural blind spots and ranged from Scott Pilgrim vs the World to making fun of M. Night Shyalaman to the reasons they loved or didn't love Tolkien novels, Breaking Bad and Modern Family.
As I was listening, without even seeing these guys, I wanted to be in the conversation, to back-up the guy who as a kid loved maps in his books and names with punctuation because it showed the author cared about the details of his brave new world. They were SO funny, and well-read and articulate but in the best way...they also listened, and enjoyed each other and were having fun reveling in their nerd-dom. Whatever it was that they loved, be it pin ball machines and Pac Man to a made up elfin language. I realized, that's the kind of guy I want to meet.
So me.... I read... alot. Yep, I have a good job. Yep, I have way too many hobbies from backpacking to sea-kayaking to pro-baking to questionable comedy improv and I do defend the South when it is offended. It's my duty.
Make me laugh, challenge me intellectually, LISTEN, be my hero when needed, accept all my sides, even the ones that aren't so flattering and be a great Saturday night date. And call me on my stuff.
A mature view on life, love and sex...por favor! Creative folks are a plus in all the preceding departments.
