I find peace in surfing, dropping in on a wave I find myself completely existing in that moment, not the one before, and not the one after, peace for a fleeting instant. I enjoy what I do, solving environmental problems and building a better future for my child and his children. I've spent arguably too long in skool - UC Santa Barbara, Oregon State, and finally UC Santa Cruz. I am dedicated to life long learning. Career wise as a coastal geologist, I found a way to stay close to the "force" that inspires me King Neptune, Mother Ocean. The force is strong in me, I have been brought to tears by the smell of the salt air after extended times away. The projects I work on are ones that I would have (and still do) volunteer on 10 years ago.
I also do what I enjoy, especially if it is outdoors! I enjoy music, especially reggae, jazz, and blues. I savor organic food, BBQing, and wine all improved when surrounded by good friends. I try to live a healthy lifestyle - yoga, exercise and lots of water. I enjoy time throwing a stick for my loyal dog who is smarter than the average "honor student".
Not sure who I am looking for entirely, definitely someone who is feisty and loves adventures in the outdoors. Preferably a surfer who is passionate and educated, laughs easily, a bit naughty, and wants to make a difference. A woman who appreciates a mix of time with me, her friends and family as well as some solo time. Someone who is comfortable living out of a backpack (or boardbag), but still can get decked out, take my breathe away, and dance the night away. You have to love the ocean, the earth and love to have fun.

Me? Well...
I'm pretty adventurous, but with a few caveats: 1) I like the buddy system, which is to say I am much more outgoing and daring with a partner. Sometimes I'll lead, sometimes follow. 2) I shy away from city driving, mostly because I have terrible parking karma and a lousy sense of direction. I tend to bike places when I can. 3) It takes an act of god to get me on the dance floor... that or a couple of stiff drinks.
I love to cook and would love to cook for more than just myself more often. My repertoire may be a tad limited, but I truly love being in the kitchen. Baking seems to elude me though. Oh, and I actually kind of like doing dishes. I also love a nice red wine and I shake a mean cocktail, but I must admit I never cared much for beer.
I'm pretty sporty, but have a hard time thinking of myself as athletic. I bike way more often than I drive and enjoy long weekend rides with friends. I've also done some overnight touring and would like to try an extended trip some time. And I recently completed my second 100 mile event! Mountain biking has been low on the list since a little mishap resulting in a few broken bones and an ambulance ride to the ER but I'm warming up the the prospect of giving it another go. Another favorite activity is rock climbing, especially bouldering. I'm at Pacific Edge often and have been climbing at the Pinnacles, Yosemite and Bishop.
I'm an avid photographer, or I was... I don't seem to shoot often any more. I'm not sure why that is. I do mostly landscape and nature stuff. The photography buisiness is also my day job, but on the back end. I'm a Photoshop addict anyway, so I might as well get paid to use it.
I have an over-developed sense of loyalty, which on the downside steers me toward being a workaholic (except that I value my personal life too much to cross that line), but goes double for family and friends. I still have close ties to old high school and college friends back east and even keep in touch with old girlfriends going back just as far. At the same time I'm a lousy correspondent. My mother will tell you I don't call often enough, and I don't talk with my brothers and far away friends as often as I should either.
I'm very easy to be around and generally get along with just about anyone. I'm the guy mothers love and friends would want their sisters to date. If only more of my friends had sisters :) I tend to be a private person to a degree, but with those I know I am unabashedly open. I'm sometimes soft spoken and reserved, but those who know me know I'm quite silly at heart and have a little mischievous streak. I like making people laugh, with me or at me. I'm a very affectionate person who loves cuddling and closeness, and thinks spooning is the best way to fall asleep.
I am long-winded. Actually I'm not. I'm more of a listener than a talker, but I do get on a roll when I write.
I really don't like to begin so many sentences with 'I', so enough about me.
The person I'm looking for has a smile that will make me smile in turn, eyes I can get lost in, and a warm heart. She is kind and playful and looking for a meaningful relationship.

I make my living in the performing arts...I travel around the world with a comedy show performing at a variety of places, some exotic, some not so much.

I am a HUGE fan of the Muppets, all things Jim Henson and also of ice cream, these are two of my FAVORITE things. I like all ice cream (at least that I have tried) except pistachio ice cream, which I think is an unnatural green and so I boycott that flavor.
My Favorite color is blue...royal blue to be exact, though all shades of blue are nice. Twilight would be a close second.

I started drawing at the age of 3 (on the walls of my bedroom much to the frustration of my mother), and decided I was going to be an artist sometime around age 10. I studied Illustration at Art Center College of Design and afterwards taught art, freelanced, did public murals and what-not until I had saved enough money to go traveling on some adventure.
Grew up in Santa Cruz, CA. Love the outdoors, surfing, hiking, and exploring. Traveled around South America a bunch and spent some time living in Brazil.
I speak Spanish and Portugues (what I can still remember).
Enlisted in the Navy for a bit, doing mostly graphic design and later photography work. Spent most of my enlistement on a ship stationed in Japan where I was able to travel extensively throughout Asia.
Currently live in Pacific Grove working as a Webmaster/Photojournalist for the military.
