I have a lot of passions--perhaps too many, but though they define part of me, they don't make me inflexible nor closed to new things and ideas. I love the ocean, surfing, cycling, and I used to race bikes. I love any time I can spend with my son. I love the outdoors. I love the Pacific Northwest, and camping and fly fishing up there, something I've been doing since I was a kid. I love the Niners, another vice born from about the first grade, but I dread blocking out an entire Sunday for football. I love the intricacies and strategy of baseball, and Angel Stadium is a happy place. I love sleepy Sundays and breakfast in bed with my love. I love music, photography, art, good writing, and the creative process, and some heroes are Eugene Smith, Andy Summers, Jim Harrison, Brautigan, McMurtry, Robert Johnson, Larry Carlton, etc. I like beautiful guitars, a good dog, old hotels, vintage fly fishing reels, photographic prints, good fiction, good non-fiction, Thai food, Mexican food, being Norwegian, and tons of different music—the new trend in Reggae such as Rebelution and Iration and S. Stoopid, the older stuff like Marley and Tosh and Cliff, Sublime, the Police, the Stones, great blues guitar, Hendrix, Gospel, some country because when it is good it tells the real story and when it is bad it is pure awful, Bruce, classical (though I don't know much about it), some opera, and basically any music that is real. Lately I can't hear enough of Ryan Adams and My Morning Jacket. I like the feeling of getting off a plane and the smell of a new country. That being said, I’d go back to Costa Rica, Norway, Mainland Mexico, and England in a heartbeat. Maybe Russia again, but I’d have to know exactly where we are going. The rest of my hit list includes New Zealand, Ireland, Nicaragua, Greek Isles, etc.
I like laughing until it hurts, cooking for peeps, having somebody cook for me, live music, drinking occasionally, playing pool, and being near a sweet, kind, and beautiful woman. The latter is the best of the list.
