The Aerospace Corporation is a non-profit federally funded Research and Development Center that provides engineering and scientific support services to the United States Air Force space and missiles systems program.
I published and lectured widely on my work and enjoyed a national and international reputation in my field. My major open-literature publications have appeared in the journals, Journal of Polymer Science, Carbon, Journal of Materials Research and Journal of the American Ceramic Society. I was an invited speaker at a number of scientific symposia and university seminars. In addition I was a plenary speaker at the European Carbon Conference in Granada, Spain, in 1994, and was invited to be a plenary speaker at CARBON98, the Japanese Carbon Materials Conference in Tokyo in November 1998, but was forced to decline after I had decided to exercise an early retirement option in March of that year.
