I loved my career as a teacher (17 years) .Had the luck to raise my 2 wonderful kids as a stay at home mom.Surgeon and lawyer as a result!! Before marriage and emigration I worked as an Executive Officer in the British and Hong Kong civil services.I am enjoying my retirement as I can travel abroad more frequently. Egypt in January was quite an adventure! Tant pis , I didn't get to the Pyramids before my evacuation via Istanbul (which was a bonus.) Will be going to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji for a month. Any tips? Hopefully it will not be quite as much of an adventure,but a wonderful experience I'm sure!!

Being on the shorter side of life left to live I do believe each day is or can be better than the day before. I do love to be happy which I am most days, not many days do the storm clouds appear. I find learning new things is so much fun when you get older, I guess because I am surprised old dogs do learn new tricks. I am tenacious with projects with my camera or computer and find great joy in creative things. I have a love of photography and some day want to take more classes. I have taught myself a lot of things and feel I learn the hard way some times but it makes me a better student. I am laid back but very strong when I need to be, I keep very busy and find most days I never sit down on the weekends, there will always be time to rest later in life. I am healthy which I am very grateful for and feel making the most out of life now is what counts as you never know what is in store later on. I do not have a picture in my mind of the person I would like to spend time with but I think I will know him when he comes along. That is what this kind of dating is all about, meeting new people and seeing if there is a connection. I do not think I have changed much since I was 20 but then I guess I must have in some ways. I also would like to find time to write the books I keep thinking about and go to talks offered by the Commonwealth Club in SF.

Date men and women from San Ramon, United States. The two most engaging aspects of my current life are my grandchildren--one little girl here and two boys in Oregon--and fiction writing. I recently pitched my current novel in progress and have an interest from two top agents. I may also be able to pitch a prior novel I completed 6 years ago to these same agents. So much of my time is finishing, editing, writing queries, and synopses to get them in shape. I do attend writer conferences and workshops, but am always interested in fellow writers, whether their preference is fiction or non-fiction or poetry.
I also am enjoying a new connection to a church in the area I just moved to (San Ramon) and am interested in meeting someone on a similar faith journey. I am very liberal in my politics and sincere in my faith--sometimes a hard combination for others to appreciate or understand.
I retired two years ago from a 40 year career as a therapist, the last 19 at a Kaiser facility. I do appreciate those who either have had careers focused on helping others or have done so outside of their careers.

Cooking isn't my forte' although I love entertaining. Go figure. I have learned to be very creative in making simple and wholesome foods with splurges along the way.
My biggest accomplishment has been, with the exception of having three beautiful children, is sailing a small vessel in about a foot of visibility and no technical equipment except a compass and radio from Newport Beach to Catalina - AND arriving exaactly where I intended. That made me very happy especially considering the consequences.
