Well that didn't happen, but I did find my dream job I never knew existed. I'm a zoo educator, and I think that defines me pretty well as a person, too. I work with native and exotic wildlife to introduce them the community. My job is very important to me and I'm so lucky to do what I do.
Aside from my job, my next biggest passion is photography. I love getting out of the house to go to a zoo, wildlife refuge, or somewhere with generally nice scenery. I'm actually currently planning my lifelong dream of a trip to Africa, too! I couldn't be happier and I can't wait for the adventure. Other stops I'd like to make: Yellowstone, British Colombia, Australia, Costa Rica... The list goes on.
I love to cook (especially with fresh food from the farmer's market), tend to my small balcony garden, watch tv or movies, go to Sharks games when I get the chance, and hang out with friends. Biking and hiking are great outings, but I like to take my time and enjoy them - not race through. I haven't been camping in years and I'd absolutely love to go this upcoming season. I dislike onions, papaya, and olives. GROSS!! And I hate snails (the slug). They are disgusting little animals and I run away from them when I see them (not that they could ever catch me). LOL!
Weird thing about me (or maybe not so weird): I like shoes. Not in an "I'm a girl and I love shoes and want a lot of shoes" kind of way. I believe you can tell a lot about a person from their shoes. They are the first thing I notice about a guy.

I think of myself as a quirky dork who can make the choice to either dress up and be a polite lady or go for the inappropriate joke. Frankly, I tend to prefer the latter. Consider it the result of working with boys for many years as a sound and lighting tech for shows. While I still do that as side work once in awhile, my actual full time job is at a non profit animal shelter, which is considerably more fulfilling. Homeless animals, unlike roadies, are almost always happy to see you and rarely stare down your shirt.
When I'm not working to save puppies and kittens, I like to work on one of my many half finished craft projects, rock some karaoke, go to concerts, try new food, geek out, shoot the breeze with my friends over drinks and board games, or go on random adventures to the beach, a park, a new restaurant, or wherever the hell we feel like going. I'm not athletic or sporty by any stretch of the imagination, unfortunately. I'm an uncoordinated klutz, and my workout routine is a chore made better by the company of good friends. I do, however, enjoy being active, especially since I have a desk job. I'm always down for a good hike, and I would love to get back into kayaking or dancing. There are many things I'm down to try (whitewater rafting is at the top of the list), and life is too short to say no to adventure.

Probably my biggest accomplishment was getting my license for Cosmetology. I attended California Cosmetology School for 10 months full time back in 2008 and have been working ever since.
