I just got back from a scuba diving vacation to the Caribbean, and it seems like I am always setting up another trip. I don't just travel for my favorite recreation (diving) but also to explore the globe. I went to China last summer with my daughter (who attends University in San Diego). The trip was very fun (and hot) and taught me a great deal on the culture of the growing world power. What I love about traveling is that when you have been to a place, it feels like part of it belongs to you, so when you see them in the news or see movies that take place somewhere you have been, it is really exciting.
I also love the outdoors and am lucky enough to live in a place where great hiking is at my fingertips. I also swim a great deal, and overall, enjoy working out to keep in shape.

Family and friends are very important to me and now that I'm retired, I have time to spend with them. I have two grown sons; both are successful, married, and have given me wonderful daughters-in-law and grandchildren.

I'm am an avid gardener, love music and manage to read the daily paper and good books. Recently, I made time to join a book club. I regularly attend the theater and am a subscriber to three. I don't hike, but I can do a 5K; I'm not a biker, but enjoy being outside; I thought I had one more ski trip in me but after a terrible fall, think I may have to give that up. I might try kyaking on the Russian River on a very warm day.
I do love to travel and finally have the time. Just since I retired, I've been to Europe twice, once to France and then a fabulous river trip from Amsterdam to Budapest. A separate trip to Prague via train rounded out the visit. In addition, I recently did a road trip with a friend from here to Austin. It was a fun trip with no problems and a good time. Then I flew off to the east coast to visit a long-time friend and tour Philadelphia, among other places, for the first time. It is quite an interesting, historical city and I can't believe I hadn't been there since I grew up on the east coast. This week I spent five days in Sonoma, glorious days touring and tasting.
Outdoor music season is here and all I can say is that there is so much music to be heard, I may never be home. There are several venues in Redwood City and San Carlos, music in the park in Menlo Park, the jazz workshop at Stanford, jazz at Stanford Shopping Center and two evening performances in Los Gatos.
