Being candid - there will be pain that comes with me... ...but its way in the background. We all have senses/feelings and believe we should use them. Had a female friend who once appologized for expressing anger at me... ...still to this day trying to counsel her, anger is ok, we're human and like laughter and sadness, that comes with us. Men are from Mars and girls are from Venus. Stuborn me, learned this the painful way (divorce). I've finally now learned (...I swear on a stack of Bibles...) to listen and how impotant talk is... ...not just to want to fix things.
Love to laugh, especially at myself... ...brings out enjoyment in life and living. Money - not to important to me. Graduated long time ago from that phase in life. Health, good friends and a zest, that's where our investment needs to be. Use to take life too seriously and in turn not live it. Discovered, what seems best happens. Still look though when I cross the street.
Greatest thing that's happened in my life - been fortunate to have two great kids, each different, who in growing up have taugh me quite alot. Been truely blessed.
Enough said: Just came off a ninth and I emphasize final rotation, Nov '11 deployed to Jacksonville, Florida (an engineer who wears a uniform but not a solider)... ...other travails - 4 deployments to Iraq and 3 to the other gulf, Gulf of Mexico -Waveland/Bay St. Louis, MS right after Katrina, and 6 month and 2 month stints down in New Orleans doing engineer stuff fixng levees, and one to Afghanistan. (Note: Makes for job stimulating M-F, but I candidly admit a real questionable foundation for developing any deep, meanigful relationship. So now I've chucked it. This gypsie life style Is over, fini.)
Settled down now to Bay Area. Life story has been a belief in living there rather than traveling - perhpas too well: London (first job out of school); NYC (graduate school); Washington, DC (military); Boston (job); Germany and Sweden (8 years - job and marriage)... ...and more lately Guatemala where am currently doing NGO engineering work.
What I'm looking for is an interesting and stimulating partner. How to define her - a charmer certainly? One's interests can always change and mesh.
