Date a soulmate from California, United States. When seeing my friends in happy relationships, the commonality of them all, that they are best friends. A MUST for me. I don't mind dating to see if we can evolve into great friends, but I do not take making a commitment lightly.
Having something is common is essential. I learning from conversations with my partner and engaging in an activity (i.e. performing arts or a Sharks game) -- hitting museums is not my thing. Trying to get me out of a hardware store and stationary/gift stores is difficult, but it is as far as I go with shopping. Sharing a common interest or simply being in the house at the same time, but doing something on our own is great. But, making a meal at for for 2 or having friends over is my most a favorite thing.
My preference is for dry, witty humor (like that of British). And, when I come across a cat or dog, that is what brings the largest smile to my face. Well,, a second to seeing my to my nephew (8) and 2 nieces (4 & 6) when they are happy and carefree. Family is essential, but my folks and one of my brothers live back east in Canada so I see them ~ once a season.
I can't let go of loving a man walking on the street-side of the sidewalk, while I walk on the building-side (an old tradition). Being gracious and grateful are qualities that stand out most for me.

I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, used to own a golf shop in Germany and traveled around the US as a traveling nurse. Needless to say, I love exploring. Especially fun exotic places off the beaten path.
In my spare time I like sailing in the SF Bay, started back into tennis recently, biking (road and mountain), running and skiing (snow and water). I enjoy the opera, symphony, concerts and simply staying at home watching a movie. A formal dress is just as comfortable as jeans and a T-shirt.
If you can't already tell, I love the outdoors and I'm more of a doer than a watcher. I enjoy going to sporting events especially when I can get a brat and beer; that is a must at all games!
