I am an optimistic self motivated guy who has been fortunate to experience a lot of what the world has to offer. Traveled to Europe, Japan, and many Latin American countries, recently Egypt. I love music, art, science, nature and humor that enrich our lives. 3d gen San Francisco boy with a bent for the country, water, the beach, and sunshine. But I still love my City.
While I have been fortunate to have built 2 successful businesses, the last of which I turned over to my youngest son a few years ago, my biggest success are my sons and granddaughters. My sons consider me [ and their mom] to be among their best friends. I make my home in CC County and spend time at my home on Clear Lake where we sail, hang out with friends, cycle and I have a hobby vineyard from which I make award winning wine. If you don't enjoy wine I am not your guy.
I have had some uninvited challenges come into my life, worked hard to face them as well as I could and to learn from them. Not easy stuff. I believe a life examined is a life lived well. I would want a partner to have done some of the same.
I stay fit by gym and cycling, and eating right, although I cheat with a burger and milk shake once and a while. I keep my mind sharp by continually learning, exploring new things and paying attention. I have a BA, MA and my politics are progressive. If you feel GW Bush was a great president I am not right for you. I care very much about whats happening to the planet. I am disturbed by the tone of civil discourse in the country and where it is taking us.
Things I like:
Wine, good food, chocolate chip cookies, roast lamb, sunsets, all sorbet, cute babies, Sees chocolates, apricot pie, PBS, NPR, BBC, some conventional drama shows, classical music especially guitar, the arts, culture, nice smiles, humor and laughter, and random acts of kindness.
Things I like to do:
beaches, tropics, lakes, rivers, mountains, deserts, sailing fast, cycling, skiing, being outside, learning, wine tasting, grape growing and making wine, travel, reading, slow meals with wine and good conversation, politics and world affairs.
Not so much:
I am not involved in active religion and if you are we are not a match. I don't golf, tennis, or ride horses. I like dogs but am not keen on sleeping with them. Long distance dating doesn't work for me as I live in the lovely SF Bay Area and unless you plan to move here soon, I am not a match. Granddaughter pics will tell you why.
Who am I looking for:
This is neither about dating nor about marriage for me. It's about finding a loving life partner and friend who wants to build a balanced relationship with a focus on a common values, a shared outlook on life and mutual interests. Having some overlapping and shared activities is important, but we both must have the space be able to do our own things and be who we are as individuals. I seek a woman who is intelligent, sharp minded, wants to be a friend, is looking for that special chemistry, is sensual and sexy, likes to kiss, smile and hold hands. She's flexible, curious, sharing, caring. She takes living seriously rather than herself, can laugh at herself and laugh with others, while looking after her emotional well being. I believe that I can bring these things to a life partner relationship.
She needs to be finished with marriages and prior relationships and be over the bad feelings. She has strong family values which she is willing to share with her partner. She is educated and has had a satisfying career and is within seeing distance of winding down, so that the 3d act can be shared and enjoyed with her loved ones.
