I have been single for a very long time while I raised my boys. They are now young men, who are successful in life. Number #1 son, just graduated from USC and number #2 has one more year at Davis. I am fortunate to have inherited "youthful" genes and seem much younger than my chronological age.
During my 20s and 30s I was busy climbing the career ladder. In my 40s I became a (single) mom and had a great time raising my son. Was a very busy soccer mom, boy-scout mom and counselor, school volunteer. I found parenting to be the most educational, humbling and rewarding experience. The 18 years went very quickly and son was off to college (UCSD). Within a couple of years of son moving out, Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Mom moved in with me for 3 years until it became an impossible situation. She is now in a care facility and I go there every day to do what I can. It is very sad, but it is that other dimension of life which we all hope never to enter.
It is now my turn to meet someone nice and do some fun things. I am generally happy with my life, have my own business, own my home in Moraga and have many good friends. I feel very blessed! However, that "someone special" somehow has eluded me.
Guess I have never taken the time, or been proactive in trying to find this special person.
