Date single man from Malibu, United States. I am a lawyer, hiker and photographer who is looking for one lovely, very special woman with whom to spend the rest of my life, have fun, and marry. I believe she is somewhere in this world, but God only knows where—and seemingly VERY difficult to find.
The qualities that I am looking for are: honest and trustworthy; natural with no phoniness; intelligent; religious, with common sense and a good sense of humor; not too materialistic; sensuous and who can love deeply and hopefully forever; loves kids; and not an alcoholic or a drug addict of any kind (e.g., prescription drugs). In your 50s or early 60s ideally.
I have traveled extensively in the continental U.S., Europe, Ireland, England, Scotland, Canada, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, part of Mexico, and the Hawaiian Islands, and love all of them as well as the people. Among other things, I have covered Western Europe from one end to the other; and I have made 12 trips to Ireland, spending 2-3 weeks at a time there.
Hiking is my principal hobby these days; I spent time studying photography with Ansel Adams before he died; I have owned 3 fishing boats and a small sailboat, and fished for years in tournaments and just for fun; and I play golf and tennis, swim and love to dance—if I can find someone with whom to dance.
I am my own boss and my time is my own, except for deadlines that are present at times. I have been a lawyer for years, and I am a nationally-recognized expert in a sector of American banking law, and I write political articles for fun too.
I was born and raised in West Los Angeles. I attended the University of California, Santa Barbara; and I received a bachelor’s degree from UCLA in economics, and two law degrees, one from Berkeley and another from Georgetown.
My father was of German ancestry who came to the U.S. in 1849 from Rottweil near Stuttgart, a husband and wife who were Catholics and had 16 kids. They settled south of Minneapolis. My maternal grandfather was a Scot (my middle name is “Duncan,” which was my mother’s maiden name); and my maternal grandmother was Irish, whose ancestor came from County Meath in 1850. Other ancestors first came to America around 1760.
I worked in national politics for many years, and still follow it closely, for fun and work. I read books about politics, Alexander the Great (who probably influenced world history more than anyone except Jesus), watch TV and listen to Bach and other music.
With respect to religion, I had essentially a "near-death" experience some years ago, similar to what others have described, during which I experienced God . . . as an intense bright light at the end of a tunnel, and as Infinite Intelligence of which our own intelligence is merely a part. God was neither masculine nor feminine. My mother had died months before it happened, and I felt a sense that she was there too.
From that moment forward, I have never doubted that God exists, or that God created everything—heaven and earth and everything in between. However, I continually seek to understand how God operates in my life, on a day-to-day basis. The closest I have come is my belief that God acts through us as faith, inspiration, prayer, miracles, and perhaps most of all, love. I believe that in expressing love, each of us is God in expression.
Finally, these days I live a much simpler life than I have in the past, and I like it.
Meet someone special from Malibu, United States. Each of us is unique and the challenge is to try to find our soul mate. I am comfortable with myself and with the people that I choose to be with. I am by all standards one of the last good guys who does not cheat, lie or steal. Honesty and integrity are one of my strongest features, The perfect match has similar qualities, educated, bright, witty, attractive and sensitive to the feelings of others. A great smile and eyes to bury my soul in. I am a Yankee born and raised, conservative by nature and don't take anything for granted. Neil Diamond said "You don't bring me flowers anymore" My goal is to keep the flowers comming" . I love the sea and all that it has to offer. I can be a bard with verse and ryme. My soul in a past life must have been a sea going man, "Pirate?" with wit and ryme destined to roam the seven seas in search of you.
The picture was taken Sept. 2010 and August 2011.(They are real, I have more energy than five guys at half my age.
