Love concerts or just going out to clubs to see friends play or sittin' in @ blues jams... Love restaurants – simple one off kind of places. Watch some TV at night – usually taped music shows (love that Abbey Road Live series), HBO/Showtime, taped comedies, Intl House Hunters or movies - can’t stand crappy TV… And yes I’m a closet American Idol fan, this last season was pretty good…! :D

Meet someone special from United States. I'm a Taiwanese Christian man born in Taipei but raised in the US from the age of two. I love beauty in all of its forms. I especially love local museums like the Huntington Library with its varied gardens and the Norton Simon where the history of European art is seemingly laid before you in a few wings. I love nature and the outdoors especially riding along Back Bay in Newport Beach and the back breaking but ever so rewarding ride to and from Mt Baldy (confession I've only done it once?so far). And I love church. I love sitting in the pews hearing the law and gospel preached as the greatness of God is revealed as well as the magnitude of our sins. I love hearing of the redemption I have in Christ and in coming forth during communion to receive tangible assurance of that very same redemption. I love social media, especially Twitter and Instagram where I use the handle minghsulu for both. It can be nasty and shallow but the sheer amount of information and images that you can get in such short time is staggering. I once acted as an unofficial (read unpaid) nanny for a friend's four (soon to be 5) kids(ages 1,3,5,7) for six months, many experiences I had were so great (helping the one year old to walk, keeping the 5 yr in line by outwitting her, winning the grudging respect of the 3 yr old), but the most precious was discovering that if given the opportunity I probably would not do terribly at being a father. And so I am here not with some overwhelming biological mandate to procreate, I have had too many friends who went through horrible marriages and even worse divorces to over-idealize the institution but to find the right person to share the faith and possibly raise a family would be a life worthy to be lived. And reading things over I realize that I sound awfully arrogant. As if I sit around all day admiring beauty and philosophizing on life,theology, child rearing and relationships. And that is not me. I love technology in particular smart phones (Android) and new tablets (iPad 3rd Gen.) and have recently gotten into attending Pop Culture conventions in particular Comic-Con. No I do not dress up as Batman or Superman and I wish many of my fellow attendees would follow my example. One of the funniest lines I ever heard was from a comedian who said the saddest thing he ever saw was a Fat Superman at Comic-Con waiting, breathless for the elevator "Apparently Reality was his kryptonite." I enjoy being among 150,000 people some old hands many newbees gathering together to listen to directors, writers and stars discuss their life, new project or just the general state of the world. I remember Steven Spielberg in 2011 ostensibly there to promote his new movie Tin Tin but willing to answer questions about his career (Georege Lucas is his favorite collaborator, Back to the Future was his favorite movie to produce, American Beauty was the movie he wished he had directed) the most moving was that ET was his favorite movie to make not just because of the film itself but because of the sense of family he achieved while making it (with Drew Barrymore and the other child stars he worked with) made him realize he wanted to be a parent. His most memorable line to me was "I have eight children today because of ET." I would give credit to Mrs. Spielberg too but I think we know what he meant. I remember Colin Farrell promoting Fright Night and Total Recall (he is playing Arnold Schwarzenegger's role) being caught with his pants literally down as he stretched across the stage to hand a fan an autograph. His pants slipped as he did so and the auditorium camera man chose that moment to zoom on him from behind and we also discovered Mr Farrell apparently does not wear underwear (Semper Ubi Sub Ubi dude). It's incidents like these that make the four hour wait in line worthwhile. And this is not say that Comic-Con is an absolute must for the rest of my life. I merely offer it as an insight into what I do for fun now and why.
