Hi. I’m not sure how to write a profile of myself that will spark an interest in the type of woman I am looking for, but I’m optimistic that part of me will come through. I want to learn to paddleboard, sail, (re)learn French, get another degree, and work hard to be in a comfortable, sometimes hilarious relationship (and a few other things and not necessarily in that order). I’m also old enough (hopefully meaning mature enough) to know that I am a positive person who looks ahead with a grin while dutifully dragging along a roller-bag of the past. That’s me trying to be deep. It could use some face-to-face work. I do enjoy conversation over wine and food.
What else? My nephews all have the same facial expression to tell me when I'm acting like an idiot. At three, five and seven, this demonstrates to me that they work well together and can strategize. I'll take partial credit for teaching them that, but then I'd like to take credit for a lot of things on which I probably had little affect.
I have a traditional philosophy by which I try and live that invloves keeping the mind, body and spirit active. I'm straight forward and enjoy sarcasm. I'm not metro and neither was my father or any of my cousins or uncles (although my brother was for a little while). But if my hair gets itself into a faux-hawk as I get out of the pool, it is wholly accidental. That is not the same as being metro.
As a kid I grew up bilingual in Montreal and southwestern Ontario until my family moved to Socal for my father's job. Except for my three siblings, I am an only child. I have old-fashioned values, but more and more I have the feeling that they are now more 'old' than 'fashioned'. I have life-long friends, and even life-long family members. My friends' wives tell me that they like me, which the wives further tell me is generally an unlikely thing and as such an extremely strong recommendation. I have been a best man five times and have gleaned from preparing and nervously giving speeches that one very important thing a person can say about another is, "s/he has never asked me to help them move."
My job can take me out of town for 2-3 days at a time. Some women may not like this, some may..;) But as time goes by this can get better, and then there are the travel benefits! I really like to travel, find cool places, try new things, and cook.
I have taken two of my nephew's flying so far and they dug it, especially when we did the rollercoaster and went into clouds looking for dragons.
