Meet someone special from Indio, United States. This profile writing business is hard, and I made a living as a writer in the 90s, so it must be hard for everyone. It takes a lot of thought to describe who you are and what you are looking for. I'm not sure I'm up to it but I'll try.
I'm a well educated guy who likes people and has a whole career behind him. Now I'm trying to find interesting activities to occupy my time. Also, have a fictional novel half done.
I grew up in the Chicago area, went East to college, then back to Minnesota to complete undergraduate degree and graduate degree. After that, I got out of the snow quickly and headed to California. I've had a long career in top executive positions, consulting, conference production, and publishing. I sold my companies in 2000 and retired. I've been married 3 times and have 5 kids who live with their mother in La Jolla, even though two of them are over 21.
I enjoy intelligent people. There is nothing better than a conversation with someone who can keep up with me and has a good sense of humor. I joke around a lot. I don't like golf and most of the men who play golf. A lot of them just bloviate without a lot of substance. I just can't get excited over pushing a little white ball around in 115 degree heat.
Most of all, I don't sweat the small stuff. That is, I don't anger easily and tolerate just about everyone I meet. Last November, I decided that I needed to get out more. So, I started driving a taxi. It is more fun than anyone can imagine. I drive days and have my nights free. The cab business is kind of like speed dating. When I have an intelligent person in the cab, I can't get enough of the conversation before it has to end. I've been doing is about a year and have a lot of stories. I may write a book, "Taxi Cab Confessions..." or something like that. Anyway, it keeps me out of the casino and out of trouble.
I'm healthy and financially secure. I don't need a nurse or a purse. I have a friend with a jet ski and just discovered how fun it is up there on the river. My parents were both teachers and had the summer off. I still own a cabin in central Minnesota and every now and then go back there to swim, fish, sail etc. I love water and, of course, that's why I retired in the desert. I used to rent a cabin in Big Bear for July and August every year. Loved the boating and trout fishing.
About my smoking. Apparently, there are a lot of women who don't like it. I'm wearing a patch as I write this. Maybe with a little moral support, I could be coached to quit forever. I know it's bad for me, but it's more addictive than most drugs. I'm like day light savings time...I spring forward and fall back.

Date men and women from Indio, United States. First a confession - the Golden Retrievers are not mine. I was just visiting them, and obviously having a great time! Do not have a dog now, but am seriously considering adopting a rescue pup. Had a Golden for 14 years... still miss him!
I am an active person who loves to travel, make new friends, embrace new experiences, and would love to find someone who enjoys the same things.
Although I do appreciate the finer things in life, I am just as happy sharing a picnic in a beautiful setting as enjoying a meal at a five star restaurant. Am comfortable in my favorite old jeans as well as designer clothes.

Volunteer work is a part of my life, and I was a long time member of Rotary International. Really hope you make time to be of service to those who may need it. Some friends and I started a charity golf tournament last year to benefit some local non-profits. Did pretty well and hope to double our profits next year.
Have a new grandson in Walnut Creek, CA, so I plan to be spending more time in the Bay Area.
Life is too short not to enjoy it, and so far, my life has been a great trip, with some minor bumps along the road, - wonderful family, lots of friends, and several interesting careers. I have traveled pretty extensively and been lucky enough to live in some of the most beautiful places in the world. Moving to the desert full time has given me the chance to move off in to new directions and to explore whole new opportunities.
