I work from home and I work a lot. I live in an area where I don't know many people, and so I have decided to try this out. I'm originally from Iowa, but have been in California since 2000. I am the youngest of three boys. I have never been married or engaged and have no children. I lived in Hermosa Beach for seven years and two years in L.A. prior to that. I bought my first house and moved to the desert back in June 2009. Quite the change of atmosphere to say the least, but I've enjoyed the space and slower pace, plus it's close enough to buzz into L.A. or San Diego in a couple of hours at a moment's notice.
I am totally done with clubs. I literally have zero desire for that scene anymore. Yes, I enjoy going to a relaxed bar with friends to watch a game, have some beers, etc. I guess that's my beach days conditioning, rolling into places in flip-flops with sand still in my hair. But my days of waiting in lines, paying covers and $10 per beer are done. I guess I have all of that out of my system and am looking for a relationship with true meaning and the bigger things life has to offer up. If that makes me boring then so be it, I'll embrace that =)
I'm looking for my best friend. Someone to SHARE happiness and contentment with, and not someone who relies on me, or who I rely on for such happiness. Letting things fester and metastasize lead to drama and pain.
I am looking for someone who is patient and not prone to packing up and running when tough times hit us - and they WILL eventually. I liken it to a couple in a small dingy boat on the vast open ocean, with one life preserver. The seas and skies may be calm and sunny now, but a storm will come. When a storm is on the horizon and the seas become violent, will you grab the life preserver and throw the other over-board or will you hold onto each other, strap yourself in that boat and ride it out? The boat may be tossed and turned, flipped and destroyed but you ride it out together and if you can get through it, your relationship and bond emerges stronger and the next storm seems less dramatic and more manageable.
Lastly, to be totally candid, I'm emerging from a tough break-up of a relationship that shot-off very quickly - too quickly - and then came crashing back to Earth. I'll always love her and appreciate the life lessons it has taught me. It was something I have never done or experienced, and while tough, we are all a little stronger in the broken places aren't we? As a result, my guard is definitely up and I am looking to take things on my next relationship at a much more normal or healthy pace.
