I am currently taking care of my 88 year old mother who is in an Assisted Living house in Fountain Valley. We go to lunch and dinner depending on the holiday, feed the ducks (she loves all kinds of animals), doctors appointments and getting her hair done every Friday. My sister takes her to get her nails done every couple of weeks. She is a Texas woman which makes her vulnerable to falling down due to her independance. I am her power of attorney so I handle all of her estate financial issues..
I have been so involved with taking care of her I was forgetting to take care of myself. Over the past month I have begun a strenuous work out program of eating right and plenty of exercise. I ride my touring bike 20 miles ever other day and am working back to my original rides of 30 miles ever other day. The alternate days I am at the gym. I am starting to feel great and look forward to getting myself back into the shape I have always been in.

I like doing just about anything-except I confess I haven't played golf-tennis-snow or water skied for quite sometime. Although I do like bike riding- power walking-doing some hiking-or whatever sounds good. I'm pretty flexible and enjoy doing things outdoors-even the basic chores as gardening and as a surprise- picking Roses for my mate and if they are not in bloom -then I make a trip to the local florist and surprise her when she comes home or I'll get them on my way home. Of course-if the neighbors roses look good-well maybe they might be missing some!!!!- (LOL)...
I enjoy some one who is causal in their own skin-meaning blue jeans are fine for with me but would also want her to dress up for a fancy evening out-what ever it maybe...I would hope they believe in letting their man open the door for them as well as others and say things like"Please" and "Thank you". Something those who are 40 and under have never been taught or they've forgotten what manners are all about! I was raised to respect my elders and to this day I walk on the outside of my woman-something my 91 year old-(young) father taught me!!!
Oh--BTW--I am a widower. GOD called my beautiful wife of almost 34 years home to be with Him. I figure he needed another angel. She battled cancer for 19 months and He took her home Oct. 2011. We had 19 months to discuss the next stage in my life. My bride blessed me to move on with my life and after going through a 'Grief Sharing' group I feel it is time to move forward. I don't want to be a person that gets stuck with the loss of a loved one.
As of November this year I will be a grandparent-something new to me-but I'm excited for the new life in our family.
I turned my life over to Jesus when I was 25 and have had a up & down journey. It is important to be equally yoked.

[grin] So, I made it Irish black again. My hair changes color about every six months. Irish black may stay for a while, though. I like change.
