Date single man from Greenbrae, United States. I am a lone but not lonely. Out of choice I spend 80% of my time alone. 5 months a year I live 7 miles from a pave road, 26 miles to the grocery store, at 9,000' elevation. Southwest Colorado. I have gone as long as 30 days without seeing or speaking to anyone.
However, I am very comfortable, fluid and engaging in social and business situations.
My wife and I averaged 15 hours a day together, 365 days a year for 25 years.
There is a Zen koan that goes: "things are not as they seem, nor are they otherwise". That saying can be applied to my age.
I will be part of a 4 person bike team racing in the 2012 Race Across America (RAAM). RAAM is the toughest bike race in the world, It is twice as long as the Tour d France in one third the time. This year the fastest 4 person team biked across the US in 5 days, 17 hours. I am 52, 48, 35 years older than my team mates. From a physical and vitality perspective I am closer to their age than my chronological age.
I have been doing yoga for 30 plus years. I have been doing zazen (sitting meditation) in the Zen tradition for 30 plus years.
On the handsome scale I have been told that I am in the acceptable range, maybe a little bit more, and I am extremely fit If we communicate I will explain why I do not have a photo of myself on my profile.
I am not much for small talk. Substantive, probing and logical conversation is my preference. I watch very little TV, mostly PBS, The Daily Show With John Stewart and a little news.
I retired from the active business world in 1973. Since then I have been an early stage investor in startups.
Most of my time is consumed by the foundation I founded 10 years ago. Its mission is to provide safe drinking water to rural communities in developing nations. Since founding it, it has become the organizing principle of my life.
I have traveled 2.5 million miles, therefore, I am not too interested in traveling. There are three place I want to be: My Colorado cabin, my Kentfield,CA home, Puako, HI. Other than that I have only traveled on foundation.business. However, a partnership is just that. Partners willingly accommodate to the needs, wants and desires of their partner.
Love can bring people together, however, respect is the glue that can keep them together. Love is freely given. Respect must be earned. Therefore, work diligently at earning your partners respect.
I am looking for someone who is comfortable being alone and understands the importance of earning respect.
Meet someone special from Greenbrae, United States. I am blessed. I am happy, energetic, open-minded, healthy of mind and body, optimistic, athletic and attractive. I am frequently told I look 60, not 72. I love my life, but am looking for a good man with whom to share it, to expand upon it, to create a future together. I find joy in many places. While I am happiest outdoors, I also savor a rainy day by the fire. While a lovely hotel or inn is a treat, I am just as content by a campfire. I cherish my time at home, but love to travel. However, because travel is, to me, quite romantic, I find it less fulfilling without a man with whom to enjoy it. Among my favorite activities are tennis, horses (I have two), skiing, dancing, playing cards, museums, movies, theatre and concerts. I also enjoy automobiles, drive a fun one. While I still work (I own my own business in SF), I have a lot of flexibility and free time.
My family is the biggest joy of my life. My daughter and her husband are my best friends. My grandkids (in college) are precious to me. My mom - 93 years old, a treasure. Four generations within 15 miles.
The man of my dreams is honest, active, optimistic, social, virile, loyal, healthy and looking for the woman described above. Could we both be so lucky?
