Date people from California, United States. I am a professional Art educator( college level) with a small international reputation in ceramic art. I really enjoy what I do. I am a physical person but like to think of ways to make things I do easier. I try to maintain a good fitness level and will stay that way as long as my body and mind will permit. I am also an active University track coach and work at that three afternoons a week. I am healthy, exercise regularily, still enjoy competition in Track and Field, traveling internationally to do so when I have the time and fitness level necessary.. I have a large art studio but do not approach my art from a commercial position. I do selected commission work but only if the proposal interests me. I am very independent , always allowing my mind to lead me to new projects. I make things to communicate feelings I have about events in my life. I also enjoy getting the approval of those that view my efforts. I have no debt . I enjoy occasional visits with my daughter and her family. It is way fun to meet new folks and their families. People are wonderful, I never tire of learning. I find myself creating short fiction in the evenings prior to reading. I also write poetry, mostly to illustrate beauty as I see it go by. My attraction to fit, natural women, is very strong. Skin color and ethnicity are unimportant to me as is age. My late wife was of mixed races. I enjoy the presence of women of all ages if they present themselves well. The most important thing a potential partner would have is a strong self concept. Being happy with who you are today and not regressing to another time is very important. What we are now is now. I do not want to rescue anyone nor to be taken care of. Making decisions together is very important. A potential partner would need to be self supporting and able to live within her financial capabilities. She would be fit and happy with herself. Discussions are great , arguing for the sake of confrontation I can do without. Responsibility for home and garden can be shared. I have a lot of room for sharing.My art studio is large, messy, but organized to my taste. I clean it when it needs it. Of course, that is relative to who is looking. It is not off limits to someone who can deal with the apparent chaos. There is a large communal group that uses the space on an irregular basis. I enjoy comunity .I grow a large garden and try to save much of what I cannot eat fresh. I freeze, dry, and can . A partners interest in what I enjoy would be great but not a necessity. Hopefully I would be interested in what she likes also. I heat my homes with wood, I cut it myself, It is great exercise. I like company and never turn a helping hand away. In my next life I want to be a musician. I practice regularly just in case there is some carry-over. I have always wanted to own a produce market.

My health is excellent, have good genes, my father lived to be 94 and mother to 91.I make friends easily. Sometimes I do a lot of planning & other times, if you want to go somewhere on the spur of the moment my suitcase is always packed (really!).
I am a bit of a klutz when it comes to athletics. Rode a zip line a couple of years ago and wasn't able to stop quickly enough and nearly knocked the attendant off the platform!
At home I like to entertain or share a movie and bowl of popcorn with someone special. I also like dressing up, fine dining, cultural events, and love to travel both in the US and to other countries. Date someone special from California, United States. For the past 16 years, I have been an elected offical in the educational field. This November I plan to run one more time to see my project of 46 million completely finished, up and running.
I am active in Rotary for the past 10 years with perfect attendance. During that time I was fortunate enough to be selected to go to South Korea for 5 weeks to represent Rotary clubs in Ca. and Nv.
Actually, I am a quiet person. I enjoy being with friends, having them over for dinner or drinks. I only have two sisters, one in Hawaii and the other in Texas. I always thought I would have several grandchildren to spoil but it didn't work out that way. So spoiling someone else's appeals to me. Dinners on the deck, music in the background, and a glass of wine sound very nice. Yet I do love to dress up and go out on the town. We are blessed with so many excellent restaurants in our area. Having grown up in Florida, I must admit I always favor being around water.
Have visited several countries in Europe and I intend to go back. I find it interesting to visit smaller towns and just wander around. I am not the type to go on a tour where every few days you pack and go to another town or country. For that reason, I enjoy cruises. You can be as active as you choose or completely rest and read a book.
I had a very interesting marriage with my husband who had spent 27 years in the Navy as a pilot. Our marriage lasted 38 years.
I have one son, Jeff, who is married and lives in Molokai. He and his wife are school teachers there.
As for what I am looking for......I am attracted to intelligence and creativity. I want to learn from someone who is greedy for information and light and laughter and the whole world. Someone who celebrates their days and finds inspiration in what other people accomplish. A person who is conscientious about the trail he leaves behind. Manners and kindness are very important to me. Someone who is an optimist and open for unplanned opportunities and can embrace a little uncertainly.
