I have spent 23 years as a Navy officer (mostly in the reserve component) but have completed tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. I love great wine, I have a small wine cellar (est 150 bottles). I enjoy cooking for my family, anything from Santa Maria style tri-tip beef to asparagus risotto and lamb. I'm thankful for my health. I have a passion for travel, my favorite places are New Zealand, Spain, Italy, Greece, and the U.K. I particularly like to visit different wine areas all over the world. I really enjoyed visiting wineries in Chile and New Zealand

Meet single man from United States. I consider family to be very important, not only kids but parents and siblings. I like bowling, swimming, bicycling, photography and travelling. Although I haven't golfed, skated, or played tennis, volleyball, badminton or baseball on a regular basis in a while, but I wouldn't mind getting back into any of them. I probably watch 2 hours of TV per day, mostly at night when things are slow (on the average...very little of it sports), but I prefer movies and music (almost any kind). I'm also a few books behind in my reading. In the past few years, I have had season tickets to the Huntington Beach Playhouse, season tickets to the Pacific Symphony Pops concert series (at the OC Center for the Performing Arts), and various miniplans to see Angels baseball.
I may come across as too serious at first since I'm competitive and enjoy a good challenge, but I believe in having fun and enjoy having a good laugh just like anyone else. This applies not only to (card, board & interactive) games and sports, but intellectually as well. I like to be busy, although I don't always succeed, but wouldn't mind the slower pace of getting to know someone and enjoying the little things in life with her. I'm open to new things and old ideas alike. I've seen in narratives where people say they are not merely looking for someone to live with, but they are looking for someone they couldn't imagine living without. A simple sentiment, but very true...and difficult to find.
I would prefer to find someone close to me in age, as I believe that increases the chances for compatibility. I'm looking for someone who is intelligent, emotionally-secure, outgoing, and down-to-earth with an occasional "wild side" who believes in communication, commitment and integrity and has learned that relationships require attention from both sides if they are to work. You must be able and willing to say what is on your mind when circumstances warrant it. But if you're into mind games or stuck in a "role" ("pleaser", "fixer", etc.), please go elsewhere.
You must be willing to share some of my time with an aging mother (90yo) as I help fix up her house for eventual sale, as well as my daughter (36yo) & son-in-law and their 9yo son and 6yo daughter, my son (31yo) & daughter-in-law and their 6yo daughter and 3yo son, and my other son (30yo) & daughter-in-law (no kids at present). (Yep, four grandkids!) ...And yes, I realize the same to be true when it comes to your family.
I would prefer someone who likes to take an occasional weekend (or longer) trip out of the area (say SB, LV, SF or SD) to get away from work & other daily pressures so we can focus on us and our relationship. You must be aware that children, regardless of age, on either side of a relationship can present not only additional opportunities for family activities, but can test a relationship in ways that require good communication be maintained at all times.
