My sense of humor tends towards Monte Python and Rodney Dangerfield. Mix in a little perspective, and some reflection, and we have the beginnings of a meal for the mind, the best kind. I like to talk about the world’s problems over wine - Cabernet, Zinfandel, or maybe a Shiraz, but no Merlot and no Whites (not well red). Screw caps are OK but lack pop. Beer is good too (in moderation) - proof that God loves us according to one of our Founding Fathers. I vote in all elections and treasure what that means.
I know my way around a Windsor Knot but prefer not to knot. I have cuff links, somewhere. I also have t-shirts older than my oldest son and prefer jeans to trousers. I was brought up to hold the door for a lady, carry the heavy stuff, and walk between her and traffic. I can’t really cook though I love to eat, wash a mean dish, and can open a bottle of champagne without making a mess of it. I know that the fork goes on the left, the knife on the right; and, I can feign interest in most things over dinner.
I like to ski and ride bicycles and the John Muir Trail is on my bucket list. I’ve played enough golf to agree with Mark Twain about a good walk spoiled. I smoke the occasional cigar, but not if it’s going to cost me kisses - cigar you later. I work to live and not the other way around. I’m extremely grateful that I was able to attend nearly all of my son’s baseball games and recitals when they were young. I prefer experiences and memories to things that don’t travel as well and depreciate much more over time. I’m careful to not trip over my ego. I’ve found that my throat hurts if I yell and believe that anger kills the soul. I forgive myself, often. I remember birthdays (uh, mostly) but forget arguments (way too lazy). I don’t shop (that’s what girlfriends are for) and please don’t ask me about shoes.
I work out enough to maintain a fitness level that permits me to do what I want on weekends without a permission slip from my cardiologist. And, yes, I like long walks on the beach too, but it won’t be too long before I’ll be looking around for some flat rocks to skip at the same time. I know where my passport is but prefer to speak English.
I want to find someone who has experienced life though still has a sparkle in her eyes. Someone who is blessed with grace and can laugh at herself. Someone who understands that we aren’t getting out of here alive; so, we may as well have some fun. The reason I joined? Even though I meet a lot of people each day,they are my patients. I am very active by being a single mom and having a busy job. I take off a lot of time for my children and they are number one for me. A very intelligent. well traveled 85 year old patient once said to me, "Why are you alone?
