I'm putting myself "out there" after the end of a 20 year relationship- I am still a romantic and wide-eyed about what I offer and what kind of woman would make a good match. A few things that you may need: a fire extinguisher for my kitchen experiments, boat shoes for sailing on my goodship lollygag, and earplugs for listening to the band I play in.
My values are grounded from growing up and being schooled in the Midwest but with 30 years of being in the Bay area. My #1 job is striving (and mostly succeeding) to being a good Dad to my 2 teenage kids (boy and girl). They're great kids and easily go between my house and my ex's house. Having teens, I look forward to my intellect evolving from near idiot to fairly wise as they reach 21 over the next few years. Recently, I have been back to graduate school and have transitioned my work and volunteerism to sustainability, environmental and social cause ventures. I sit on some non-profit boards and am active in guest speaking and organizing events at several colleges. I am grateful for the the good health of my family, my kids, the activist community of the Bay area, the most beautiful Marin County where I live, and the opportunity to play outside throughout the year.
I have been described as a serial entrepreneur (started 7 companies), active outdoors-man, sailor, Dad, curious, fun seeking, friendly, with a dry sense of humor. I like hosting small parties and having a full house, and making new friends. I am inspired by courage, thought leadership, serving the common good and by people who feed their souls even at the expense of sometimes not feeding their wallets. My smile comes easily in the company of a listening, caring friend, natural beauty, intellect, sailing the Bay, live jazz, playing music with my band, the performing arts, and in meeting a physical sports challenge (although it's not as easy as it used to be!)
What fires me up in a woman? An active, sporty, curious type. High on positivism and praise and low on critiques. A good listener. Challenges me with facts and passion, especially about social causes and public policy, making a difference in the world. Likes to entertain. Likes to travel, to explore and to be on the water. cooking together. Affectionate, available, not over-scheduled.
I don't have any checklists, but I do know that we could have some fun together and enjoy each other's company. We'll take our time, explore, discover and see where the journey takes us.

Shasta for 10 consecutive years (certainly not always summiting!) and have sat in many a sweat lodge and ceremonial circle. I have a commitment to doing what it takes to stay as fully alive and vital as possible. My life has been a healthy mixture of the conventional and the not so. I still have a fondness in my heart for counter-culture values while having a very strong capacity to thrive in the world. My spiritual life is very important to me, not the dogma but the direct felt experience of the deeper mystery. I practice both stillness and movement through meditation, yoga and conscious dance (mostly 5Rhythms).
I gravitate toward men who are intelligent, funny, sensual, soulful, embodied and spirited. I value self-awareness, open communication, strength and emotional availability, and I offer these as well.

While we are doing this, we have lots of fun with outer adventures. Would you like any of these?
1. How about picking our fill of blueberries as we explore the Alaskan wilderness, to return to our great base lodge for more exploring the next day or maybe that night as the sun is still high at 1am?
2. How about wandering around South Africa visiting the coastline and the wildlife parks?
3. How about making our way down the coast of Chile towards the southern tip?
4. And while we're there, let's hop over to Iguazu Falls to hear the thundering roar of the waterfalls.
5. Drifting down the Nile in a faluka boat, stopping here and there to explore ancient ruins.
6. How about spending time with the humpbacks and their babies as they sit like torpedos along the continental shelf off the coast of Molakai?
7. How about exploring Loretto (Baja) as decide whether we want to kayak, go hiking, or just sit on the veranda and watch the clouds sail by.
Perhaps we can begin closer to home with:
1. A weekend trip to Ashland, where we can easily go hiking, to a great restaurant, and on see great theatre, and stroll back to a small quaint hotel all without getting in a car.
2. How about a road trip up the coast, coming across the little town of Trinidad before we find a place to tuck in for the night.
3. How about hiking to see the condors as they soar just overhead in the Pinnacles?
4. How about skiing a set of beautiful S turns in the thigh deep powder of Alta's pristine slopes to return to the warmth of a mountain side lodge , fire alight and warm drinks waiting?
Of course, there is the laundry, bills to be paid, and all that. Yet, wouldn't it be a lot more fun to know you are loved, cared for, and cherished all the while you are going about your daily life?
And You?
You are fit, laugh easily, possess a sunny temperament, love to learn, compassionate, have a quick and curious mind, truthful, honest .....Oh, and of course, adventursome and know how to initiate and plan fun activities. You also appreciate the quiet and reflective side of life, and enjoy talking and sharing what this means for you. Perhaps you have a creative outlet or project you enjoy for those times at home when we are not off adventuring.
