Divorced for over a year, took the time off to reflect on things, and to work towards completing my MBA (better late than never).
Divorce: no drama, no heartache, no kids, no alimony, just a short sale.
During the past year, I've done more reflecting and thinking on what I value, what I like, and watching the nation and the world go through the changes and events that have occurred. Has been one heck of a year, hasn't it?
Career-wise, I'm a retired Veteran, who currently works for a corporation that supports the Navy. Very good and steady job. This entails my going on trips aboard their ships, or spending time in places like Japan, Hawaii, Virginia, Washington, etc.
Enjoy meeting new people, sudden adventures, comedy shows, Happy Hour with friends, dancing, Mexican food, sushi, the sound of the crashing waves during beach walks, the smell of a good steak on a BBQ, the aroma of fresh coffee in the morning, the sound of children’s laughter, dancing, holding hands, sharing smiles, Shamu at Sea World, sight of an underwater reef, scents and sounds of the forest after a rain, the dunes early in the morning or on a full moon night, Vegas, Motorsports, NFL Football, a quiet Sunday morning with someone I care about... These are all things that make life happy, just missing a good woman to share it all with.
I like and have a wry and witty sense of humor (Sandler, Dunham, Lopez), can be a bit sarcastic, make fun of myself, laughing, spending time with friends, concerts, historic places, techy stuff, working on the house, helping friends and neigbors. Never shy around hard work or hard play.

I try to treasure every moment I can, even when I’m stressed. I believe in opening the car door for a passenger (no matter their sex), in paying for the first date, movies and plays are kinda silly as a first date because you don’t talk, my life can be crazy busy, I appreciate a woman who looks great with just a touch of or no makeup at all, and l’d much rather be in no relationship than a bad one (which is why I’ve been on dating hiatus). If I want drama in my life, I’ll go to the theatre.
And the longer, more boring version: If you're like me, all your well-meaning friends tell you they can't believe you're single. And then they try to set you up with someone that makes you wonder if your friends like you or not. Sometimes I wonder (and have been known to ask) whether my friends have met me based on the people they think would be “perfect.” I always dreamed I would be 49 and doing this, so my life’s ambition is fulfilled. Seriously, though, I'm just a normal guy with good traits and bad, and recognize both. Sorry, I do have faults. Maybe even more than I give myself credit for. How's that for brutal honesty?
I have one of those senses of humor that you “get” or you don’t, I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about it either way. My default is sarcasm, although I’d like to think not in a mean way. Can laugh at myself…and do. Sometimes even will make jokes at my expense that at times that may make others uncomfortable (like after my house burned to the ground in the Cedar Fire of 2003). I love together time, but am a big believer in separate time too.
Historically, attraction has come in many different packages for me, but these are the consistent points through all of them. It's kinda like the definition of art -- I knows it when I sees it). Liking theatre would be helpful; I also play hideous golf and am a member at a local course, so if you play or are willing to learn, that's more time we can share.
I love to go to the theater (or theatre, if you prefer), going to Padres games (I have a partial season package), and going to my friends' childrens activities (like sports and recitals and such). Friends are very, very important to me. I can be loyal to a fault to my true friends. I'm the kind of person people seem to confide in...not bragging, not complaining, it's just my world and always has been. I have a well-earned reputation of being a no-bs, brutally honest guy. I don't care if you have male friends, don't even mind if some of them are ex's, as long as you're not romantically involved with any of them. Life's too short to spend it looking over my shoulder, if I can't trust a partner we shouldn't be together in the first place. That being said, please know that monogamy is mandatory for me, not optional. I'm not a serial dater--fact is, I'm not all that fond of dating. But you gotta do it to find those relationships that make your life more full. Well, I guess I could do the mail-order bride thing, but I thought I’d give this a try first…
