As you might guess, I might be somewhat of a geek. But that's who I am, and at this stage in life I feel it's important to be honest with myself and others. It doesn't mean that's all I am, but it's a large enough part that I feel the need to get it out there and find someone who might be like minded.
I am looking for someone to be a true partner in life with. I am looking for someone who could be very independent if they choose to be, but would prefer the company of a funny, smart, lovable guy. A love of animals is a must. A belief that people are generally good, and who has compassion for all, especially those less fortunate than us. I am conservative when it comes to my own finances but liberal when it comes to social issues. A perfect match for me would be someone who is like minded about social issues. I have been divorced for about 5 years now. I have three wonderful daughters; two in college and my youngest is in 8th grade. I pay my support on time… I am there for my girls ANYTIME they need me… I live alone… I have a GREAT relationship with my daughter’s mom. I have a job (been there 17 years) and I have a car (I work for a car company)… I can do my own dishes and clean up after myself… I LOVE to cook.

On with the show shall we, now I am supposed to tell you how wonderful and caring I am in this section but to be honest I think every other guy on here does that and it seems emasculating to me. Instead let’s talk about why you and I are on here in the first place. I have joined Match to try and find a wonderful young lady that compliments me and I her. Being in a healthy relationship can bring the best out of both sexes. For example, isn’t it amazing to see old couples out in public that you know have been together for decades and all you have to do is look at them to know what its all about. It’s that connection that doesn’t need any words to describe it because words can’t. That is what I am after just like you!
So what does all this look like on paper;
Communication, well you have to be good at communicating with each other. Everyone communicates differently so it’s a matter of accepting and learning how to understand each others way of doing so. It can be said that the best way to communicate is to simply listen…..
Trust, oh boy the big one for a lot of people. I have to say that I have been very lucky in the past as I have never had a relationship dissolve because of trust. Lucky?....maybe but I think that if you communicate properly, be truthful when doing so then the result is a trusting partner and relationship.
Respect, I have to say that respect is obviously critical to both men and women. It comes in so many forms from simply opening the door for a woman…… to never saying something negative in public that can demean your lover in front of others. I truly believe that a woman should be treated as a woman and a man like a man.
Laughter, its funny how more and more information comes out from various studies that laughter is becoming so important to being healthy. I think that is vital to the relationship that you make each other laugh and smile as much as possible. Life can be too serious some times, so be anti serious when you’re together and make the best of it.
For me I like the kind of relationship that makes you look forward to the end of the work day no matter what kind of day you’ve had because you get to see your partner. A bad day can never trump and great hug from your lover at the end of the day….never!
So am I like all the above statements, communicative, trusting, respectful and passionate? I like to think so and I have been told so. Nobody is perfect so it’s really a matter of how hard are you willing to try all the above…. all the time? I certainly do my best to practice this every day in all aspects of my life. As a result I like to live my life believing that communication, trust, respect, laughter and a good hug are the foundation for a great relationship.
There are many other things to go over like sex, money, children and so on, but I wanted to just scratch the surface so you can get an idea of what is important to me and maybe a little about how I feel and think about all this. Of course I was brief in my ramblings as there is much more detail to discuss but my goal was to lay out the foundation needed to have a healthy relationship. That is where it all starts right?
