I am an overeducated, romantic man who thinks the world can be made better in spite of politicians, a disaster of a healthcare system and not enough chocolate ice cream. I have given up on politics although I teach a course that includes a lot of issues that politicians fight about. My mother was killed by an incompetent surgeon while another tried to kill my father (unsuccessfully). You can see the connection to healthcare, but my most recent interest in bio-identical hormones has raised another very interesting question: Why are they ignored by most doctors? I have the answer but you need to talk to me first. As to the chocolate ice cream, a few years ago I wrote a long letter to my local Ralphs grocery store complaining that they were not carrying enough Dryer's chocolate. That problem has been fixed.
I apologize for the old picture but I have few pictures of myself. I look about the same with some additional gray and white hairs. My brain is much improved, however. I exercise daily to include running, swimming, weights and rowing. As to the running, I try to average around 100 miles a week so you can mark me down as moderately insane; the benefits, however, are worth it...along with the endorphins.
I am semi-retired in that I collect three retirements and am covered by four medical plans, the latter relatively useless unless I break a leg. I am also a published author with several articles and books having been published; currently I'm working on an article on the topic of PTSD and a book on andropause.
I have a relatively strong sense of humor, which goes beyond laughing at the statements of politicians. I'm not much of a TV watcher unless I have someone to watch it with. I do like to buy movies and watch them at home, complete with popcorn and assorted beverages (best served in a glass).
Who am I looking for? Possibly you...if you are reasonably attractive, fit, and an active learner. I would like to find someone who likes warm climates, good music, laughter and lots of romantic stuff. I have been writing poetry since I was 16 years old and one of my woman friends pointed out to me recently that most of it has something to do with "love." Maybe that's important to me!

I raised my 2 sons alone for 12 years,then met my late husband. I am very proud of the men they have become. Have 4 grandchildren, youngest 3 mo's old....oldest will be 12 in Dec. We are a close knit,loving,respectful family. Must have done something right as the grandkids are being raised the way their dad was! :)
My dad lived to be 94.7 &; passed 2 yrs.ago, & I naturally plan to go beyond that, so be ready for the long haul!!!
