I have been a bit of a traveler most of my life since I immigrated twice , from the Netherlands to England in my teens to the USA , with my job , when I was 31 . After moving twice again in the USA with my job living in Sacramento Nashville now have come to settle in LA . Love it here . The Laid back culture the weather really suit me . In winter I love to go Skiing locally and in summer go rollerblading or biking on the beach . I still feel pretty young at heart . I tend to keep to myself , since I grew up as a only child , but do prefer small social settings rather than crowds . Learned to Salsa dance in London and love this but been out of the dance scene for a while .Would love to get back to dancing with the right partner . Are you up for a challenge ? Having been raised in the Netherlands on Indonesian food I love all Asian cuisine and have discovered Thai since moving to LA. I seem to be eating Thai food almost every day. I am new to Match.com. My hope in writing this profile is to convey to you who I am, and what I am looking for in a relationship.
I understand that at best this can only provide you with basic information that may or may not indicate that we could be right for one another. However it could help determine if we have that potential.
My experiences have lead me to believe that although it can be debated as to if opposites do or do not attract, that is not a formula for a successful relationship; at least not for me. That in no way means that people need be alike in most ways for a relationship to be healthy and successful. In fact, I feel that the differences in people can complement each other, and is also important because we are all individuals who need to be who we are. However what I am referring to are basic core traits and values that are very important, such as dependability, humility, great and open/honest communication and loyalty. I do not see these as just words, but examples of the type of qualities that would give a relationship a chance of becoming something very special, deep, meaningful and long lasting.
Continuing with this thought, I would like to share with you a line/message in a movie that I saw many years ago that stuck with me, even to this day. The movie is 'ROB ROY'. There is line in this movie that describes what this movie is about, but more importantly, whom I would hope I am, and what I am looking for in a partner. The line says............."Honor(meaning integrity) is something nobody can ever give to you, nor it is something that can ever be taken away from you".........'ROB ROY' is a fictional movie that brings this message to an extreme, probably unrealistically so. However the movie in general, and this line specifically, reminded me that although I am willing to compromise on many things in others, integrity is not one of them.
All of this might lead you to believe that I am looking for a perfect woman. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am human and not even close to being perfect. I have my flaws and make my share of mistakes. I am looking for a woman with whom we can have that special connection with one another; someone who has a friendly personality with a big heart and a great scene of humor; someone who is a great communicator and will be my best friend and sole mate.
