Date someone special from United States. I grew up on the northern coast of Brittany in France. After living in different parts of this country, including Manhattan for 12 years and Sedona for 7, I have settled in Berkeley for the last 15 years. This feels like home. I have a 13 year old son who shares his life equally between his parents (who happen to get along). Being a "good" father is important to me.
I now live on the water on a boat I am slowly restoring. I love living simply in the natural world, in a structure that feels as if it was alive. I became a "woodworker" in my mid-forties by choice. It's a work that fits me well I believe and draws me in from different angles: artistic, intellectual (always good problems in need of good solutions), physical (this is "real" work, very tangible and satisfying), and social (I have developed some strong ties with some of my clients). I have been able to work pretty solidly for the last few years and, being self-employed, see myself as being blessed. I have just started a new job in San Francisco, and am looking for a house in the East Bay. Am currently in North Berkeley, 10 minute walk from Chez Panisse, which is perfect! Have been living mostly in New York City for the last two years, which is where I grew up, and consulting all over the US and some in Europe. Work has been an important part of my life for many years - I founded and ran a non-profit that worked on issues of jobs, poverty, economic and community development. I thought I was ready to slow down a bit, but was offered a big job with the federal government that I just couldn't pass up - so have a few more years to make a difference...am determined to balance work and life more this time, though. Am thinking about taking classes, doing volunteer work, getting involved in the community so that work doesn't take over again.
