I teach 7th 8th grade reading and English and am finishing a second credential in Library Media. I just bought a house and am enjoying personalizing the place. I don't drink, don't smoke and have never experimented with drugs. I don't judge others in these areas though.
I am a guy who listens and people often come to me when they want to talk about a personal problem or when they have a technical problem as I am reasonably intelligent. I have many interests including reading, writing fiction, the sciences, health and longevity, cooking, guitar, travel, and trying interesting new restaurants. I try to attend the theatre in LA a few times a year (notice the shirt from the musical "Wicked") and I dance most weekends and occaisionally take lessons. I like movies, both new and classics. I am a voracious reader. If I had to think of one word to describe myself it would be "diverse". I once performed stunts in a movie (The Demolishionist, have you seen it? It was a stinker), and occaisionally drag race at Famoso drag strip. I have experienced a variety of martial arts and I have had my nose broken sparing with a six time world kickboxing champion. I can recommend against the whole broken nose exeperiance. : ) I have been told I am a manly nerd.
I try to improve myself, to become a better person and live a good life as a conscious effort. I like nice things and can make personal sacrifices to get what I want out of life. I have a strong belief that people are essentially good but that trust is earned over time. Were you to ask people I know socially, they would tell you I am a nice guy but were you to ask the people that know me well they would tell you I am a good man.
I supose I am a romantic at heart but I have to let the realist in me make decisions sometimes. I know it takes a certain ineffable something that makes people come together in love but I also know that to make anything work takes honesty, compromise, listening and effort.
I am working on a couple of novels but am not nearly disciplined enough in my writing. I dabble with stocks and investing. I work out so I will be able to carry my own luggage or walk to the store when I am in my 90's. I try to consciously improve myself by my own standards. I hope to live long and prosper.
