Date people from Arbuckle, United States. My daddy was a cowboy and I was his 'son'. I am very self-reliant and independent with a strong work ethic. My mother was the first white woman to walk to the bottom of the Feather River Canyon-probably because she was afraid of horses.
She started work life as a reporter and was the first US citizen to receive a letter from behind the Iron Curtain. She was energetic and talked with honey dripping off daggers. When I was a baby my parents carried me everywhere in a picnic basket-from rock climbing to church. That being said-I am a cut-to-the chase, bottom line person. I tell it like it is and don't mince words. I enjoy intelligent conversation, not mindless banter. I am coming out of a long term relationship and while I don't mind doing favors for people I don't want to be used or taken advantage of. I actually enjoy cooking, cleaning and doing yard work, but don't want to be a cook, washerwoman or taxi driver for someone too lazy to help themselves. I like to go antiquing-looking not buying.I don't like shopping;I know what I want, & go get it; don't walk around looking.(There's that bottom line personality.) However, I like to look in gift shops when I travel. I don't like loud movie theaters, but do enjoy movies at home-most often action movies or mysteries. I love the sound of the ocean and of the wind in pine trees. I like to visit cities, but would never live in one again. Give me open spaces and clean air. I live within 20 miles of where both grandmothers were born and in the same town I was born in. My roots run deep. My mother was French/English, my father Dutch/Irish. My daughter's paternal grandparents were Portuguese and Chilean;she married a black man-that makes my 3 grandchildren more Heinz-57 than me! I am passionate about human, civil and animal rights. I enjoy and am good at painting, finish work and furniture restoration. I have written several children's books but have never gotten serious enough to try to get published. I am a Christian, and have studied and tried several religions. Although currently baptized a Catholic,I think I belong to the "God is everywhere-just look and He's there" sect. I do not abide Atheists and don't have patience with Agnostics. I tend to be fundamental, and while the rules in the Bible can't be bent there are civil rules that beg bending. I am middle of the road politically, not a straight party voter, and very interested in all perspectives. The world is not a "One Size Fits All". Social drinking is acceptable. Drunkenness is a turn off. I just retired, but revived a housecleaning business & teach piano for extra cash, so I don't have a ton of free time. I would like to meet a man who is honest and dependable; who likes an equal mix of both go out and stay home-without the extremes of constant partying or hermitage. I don't know what kind of long term plans I am looking at; I just know I'm not wild about today. I like museums, gem shows, sitting on my porch with a glass of White Zin, smooth jazz and I love to dance and to cuddle.
